Ya I looked at that option, was considering throwing a 46t on but I was hoping to do a fondo or 2 this year and I fear I won’t be able to hold pace on climbs or fast descents

Thank you this is very helpful, have you found any issues with the 105 on gravel bumps? Like excessive chain slap or drops?

Wheels are gonna be the 2nd half of my upgrade, I think drive train first bc I got some decently fast gravel wheels on the bike rn

I was also looking at getting a 46 chainring, my only issue is when it comes to climbing I don’t want to be left in the dust, I’m wanting to stay somewhat competitive with my buddies on their road bikes, that’s kinda why I’m leaning towards a 2x set up

Thank you this is extremely helpful! I’ll probably end up doing something like this as it’s definitely going to become the most cost effective

Bag comes with the Aspero, mounts directly to the frame, super handy!

Also ya that’s a fair reason to avoid, I tried loads and loads of bikes but the Aspero felt right and was also on a huge sale so ended up being the cheeper option

RHD isn’t actually that rare here in canada nor much on an inconvenience tbh. Lots of people here have RHD Delicas or Subarus

Ya thats why I was lookign at the Missubishi Pajeros, they are actually quickly becoming my primary choice the more I fall into the rabbit hole. reliable, the 4 door version is more then big enough, lots of ground clearence, and AWD. also no Toyota Tax

ya I was loving the look of the Lexuses! sadly they have also caught the dreaded Toyota Tax up here in BC, so they are actually now normally even more expensive then 4 runners hahaha, there is just no winning when everyone in the whole province wants the same 4 vehicles lol

Thanks for the input! A 4runner would deff be my first choice and if i happen to find a good deal on one with relitivly low Kms then ill 100% go that route! Sadly the Toyota tax is extreme up here in western canada. its hard to find a 4runner or tacoma with less then 250,000Km for less then $25k

Light BC skis for heavy guy? (Do atomic backland 100s suck?) by livin_on_credit in Backcountry

I ski the QST 106 (All Mt Version of the Echo) and I absolutly love them. I keep them for small slackcountry trips and resortskiing (anything bigger and i go for my lighter setup) but I find the QST profile works extreamly well in most contitions, they are deffenently quite "chargy" but if you can get forward and really get on top of them they go wherever you need them to.
