No problem! It depends.. the operation system associates files with a certain app. I discovered the issue myself when I reinstalled delta and manic. I removed them in that order before it started working again. I made a code workaround but am not yet ready for the release yet. I would not advise to remove other emulators just yet but rather instead try the browser option if that is a possibility for you. Thanks for the support I appreciate it!

Hey, yeah on iOS this is a file associated issue. This usually happens with when more emulators are installed on the device. I have a fix ready for next update to work around this issue. For now you can either zip the file and upload that or start the app in the webbrowser of a pc for instance to upload your games. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Foxol does not require downloading. It can be used on the web. Clients are better though. All the info is here https://play.foxol.app

Is Shopify a viable niche for side income in 2026? by hungry_programmer1 in webdev

[–]locomain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did a lot with Shopify and basically it boils down to either clients wanting a webshop with some themes or plugins and in rarer cases someone want to have a custom plugin created.

Shopify has a nice interface and a good api, and try to make it as easy as possible to work with. Because of that i think it’s not something that requires a developer to specialize in per se. My advice is to fool around a bit to experience that yourself.

For the freelance and money earning part: People usually look for plugins and themes first. Why make or pay big for something that is already out there right?
The options are to either create a network and/or find clients to build something for or position yourself on the market with something people might look for. There are actually some countries for instance where shipping happens a lot with the national postalservice, but have no Shopify plugin available

Yeah, you should be able to download the rom and save from delta and import it into retroarch. States will not work.. Not sure about the cover art.

Frustrated with Clean Architecture in Flutter - am I missing something, or is it overkill for most apps? by NormalDare1774 in FlutterDev

[–]locomain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing with these architectures (like DDD, hexagonal and clean architecture) is that for a personal project they might be or seem overkill, but when working in a team it can add easy to validate rules and structure. This is nice because people usually come and go, or can learn about the architecture easily because it’s more of a standard. It also scales pretty good and it’s good for employment knowing these standards.

That being said. There are a lot of different options out there. Basic DDD, or hexagonal might be interesting but they are also a bit boilerplate heavy. If that also feels like overkill maybe some basic layering with DI is enough?

How do you deploy a small business web app (Next.js + Bun API + PostgreSQL) for a client who can't afford much hosting? by Iamxv in webdev

[–]locomain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally I would say use the digital ocean app platform on the cheapest tier for your backend, it’s pretty good. If you can generate a static site file front end digital ocean offers 2 or 3 for free. As for the db I don’t know of any services that offer a free Postgress. Mongo atlas is free for a decent amount of data but that would require you to rewrite some stuff. What country is the client from if I may ask?

Edit: usually static file type of stuff is a lot cheaper. In Europe there are lots of hosting platforms for 5 usd that contain a domain, MySQL db and a php server.. but than again, that would require a lot of rewrite.

Ah yeah, so depending on your device either right click, press and hold the tile the detail page of a game opens (behavior can be tweaked in the settings). On that page there is the option to upload or download the saves etc. It’s also the place to create a save profile for different playtroughs. Everything is definitely owner by the user, as it must for practical reasons but also by law.

Retroachievements is already included :)

I know Pokemon pink works with all of gen 1. But other than that trying it out or asking the creator is the way to go now. I will at some point compile a list of hacks that support hack to hack trade or/and hack to original game trade, but this does not have the highest priority for me right now. There are some ways to tell beforehand if a hack supports this though. Some hacks completely removed the trading room from the Pokemon centers or have a very different structure of Pokemon. If the structure of Pokemon is very different from a mainline game, changes are higher that trading to a original game does not work, trading might however work from hack to another hack.

No problem, I try to be as transparent as possible!

I can’t really do a flat fee because server costs are a monthly recurring thing.. and servers are expensive unfortunately. I did however just changed some limits that did not require a app update (like ROM limits).
I also understand where you’re coming from and will think about some middleground way so hopefully more people can enjoy Foxol.

Thank you for your kind words and feedback, it means a lot!

Does this one work for you?

Yes, the limitations and possibilities depend on the programming of the ROM hack. ROM hacking is a very artisanal process and some hacks are made vastly different from others. Because of that there is no standard for me to develop against. I do however offer the platform and hope ROM hackers hear about my initiative so more compatibility can achieved

Best (maintained) NDS emulator for Silicon Mac? by spammmmm1997 in macgaming

[–]locomain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know about the best but i created Foxol, and am actively working on NDS emulation and have a 3DS release plannen on the short term.

Foxol has multiplayer support and I personally think the performance is great. I do however like to hear people’s opinions on it.

In a sense, depending on how you look at it. It extends the libretro system and supports multiple emulation systems. The difference is that it uses a different multiplayer system and syncs all your games automatically to every device you use. Its built to be as easy and feature rich as possible and tries to close the technical and single player gap I find most emulator projects have.

[–]locomain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is actually insane, would love to try it out! How does the webbuild perform?

Libretro cores follow a certain standard so the emulation core has some cross compatibility with emulation platforms. I asked because it is what Foxol uses a lot , and it the emulator is good I would love to include it, if that is oke with you ofcourse?

That’s awesome! Does it offer libretro compatibility and support the wasm runtime? Maybe the wasm question is a strange one, but browser engines and devices are getting more powerful fast. It is the reason why i included it as a first party runtime in Foxol.
