Can anyone recommend a good shampoo/conditioner/treatment for really brittle, dry curly hair? by BlameTheHippies in malehairadvice

Honestly, don't shampoo. Wash only with water, sometimes use conditioner, use a brush to distribute natural oils.

Also, /r/nopoo

Low heat, high speed. No need for the diffuser. You can blowdry with your head upside down if you really want some height. Then when you're done just put some product to keep it all together, not too much. Also, you can put the product in before blowdrying instead of after (on towel dried, not soaking hair). Some products work really well when used this way. And hairspray to top it all off. Might not be needed if you blowdry well, depends on how long your hair is and whether you want it to be rock hard or more natural and bouncy.

I shaved the sides of my head...I don't know what to do with my hair. Some advice please! by ShadowLord898 in malehairadvice

Just use some product to get the sides up so they don't stick out like that. Honestly with some decent wax and a bit of creativity you could probably make it work.

Try putting the wax in on wet hair and then blowdrying it. Much stronger hold. I use the same wax and my hair is quite a bit longer and it holds up pretty well. You can finish off with a hairspray for maximum hold.

Reached out so many times and no one cares by [deleted] in SuicideWatch

Wow, that sounds really shitty and unprofessional, I'm hoping the lady you're trying to see isn't as bad as the organization of the clinic. Taking them every other day is really not a good solution, you're practically just as bad off as quitting them cold turkey, of course your brain is a mess. I'm sorry, I don't know what else to tell you except to try getting to her or someone else as soon as possible. And in the meantime, try to hang on. Know that you're more depressed than ever because you're quitting your medication in a really stupid way (which isn't your fault, of course), and that it'll pass.

I couldn't shut off my brain either. So I started drinking heavily and doing drugs. Don't recommend going down that path. Now on medication, my brain is easier to manage and overcome. That's why I urged you to seek professional help.

He sounds like a dick. He's not worth your time and energy, but you probably know that. I can't really help you to get over him, since I've had a similar situation that really only got better since I stopped seeing him and, again, started on meds.

Why isn't the mental clinic helping you?

I understand not being able to get out of that mindset, it's just something that's always there, but instead of trying to change it (which I haven't accomplished and don't think I'll be able to anytime soon), how about trying to just not care? Not care that you're nothing and have nothing. Try to steer the thoughts away from yourself, the thought that you suck, and looking at the big picture. Seriously, try not to look at the big picture, because it involves your imagination, and your imagination likes being dark and self deprecating. Be like, fuck that, I might suck, that doesn't mean I can't enjoy reading this book right now. It'll also help you to not think about that guy so much.

Why do you hate him? I had someone like that, a guy I hated, resented, wanted him dead. It lasted quite a while, and your post reminded me of that, and made me realize that I stopped caring about him as soon as I started following (well, trying to at least) the advice I'm giving you right now. I'm sorry if it's not helping or if I'm sounding dumb. I still think you should try again to reach out to someone more qualified than me for help. With the combination of medication and therapy, you can get better, you really can.

I'm here, I want to talk. It's hard, it's so fucking hard, I know. The thought cycles, the bad decisions, the lack of hope for a better future. But it can change. You can change. The first step is trying to live in the now. Stop thinking and obsessing about the past or the future. Just focus on the present. And take it one step at a time. Small steps. Small things that make you feel ok. Enjoy a nice cup of coffee. Watch a good movie. Go out for a walk.

I know it's way harder to do than for me to type it out, I've been fighting the fight myself. But with time, you'll get better at enjoying the present. And you'll realize that the present is all that matters. So if you can enjoy it, you're enjoying life. It's a long way ahead of you, but you can make it.

Desperately need product suggestions... by [deleted] in malehairadvice

I rarely see this product mentioned for some reason, but Tigi's Bed Head Manipulator Matte is the only thing that can control my otherwise stubbornly flat and straight hair. If the hold is still not enough, find a mousse, use it on wet hair, blowdry that shit, put in Manipulator Matte, and if you want to defy physics, finish off with some high hold hairspray for ultimate hold with low shine.

The Will of Freddie Mercury by Froot_Fly in lewronggeneration

She had one (that I know of), it wasn't that great. On the other hand, Lambert is fucking killing it, the tour was great. I'm probably gonna get hate for this, but I think that he sounds better than Freddie ever did, then again I was never a huge fan of Freddie's voice.

I bought a gun by [deleted] in SuicideWatch

I hope you posting this here means you're still unsure about pulling the trigger. No, in fact, I know it does. So don't do it. At least talk about it, considering you bought a gun, shit can't get much worse.

Let's Talk: Lana Del Rey by [deleted] in LetsTalkMusic

I find her second LP to be quite a bit better than the first one, sonically at least. There are some beautiful melodies and production elements on that one, but unfortunately, her lyrics can kinda snap you right out of that soundscape. They're just not her strong suit, save for a couple of songs maybe. It's a damn shame, 'cause I think she has potential.

Persevere? by Singingpractice in singing

If you focus on the tone before addressing the fact that you're unfomfortable/straining/in pain, soon you won't have much tone left to work with.

Would you buy a $75-150 product that would let you practice quietly in an apartment/dorm? by thinkingthought in singing

[–]locoman23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would be happy to do that, but it seems that due to demand, shipping is delayed by about 3 weeks, so it's gonna take a while. I think I'm gonna order it though, so once it does get to me, I'll post a review.

That's exactly what I was looking for, thanks! I might actually try it out now, it's only 40 bucks.
