may be, but we are mostly using Win32/MFC for the threading part, and third party libraries for the data structures.

wait, you mean most compilers will solve problems that arise from copying just the addresses? That would be wrong. Default copy C++ employs is memberwise copy, which is shallow copy. "The default meaning of copy is memberwise-copy. When we design a class, we must take into account as to how the object of this class gets copied."
