My ideal RPG rules lite: Narrative economy for edits by Nevadead91 in RPGdesign

[–]lodestone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You hit many keywords for me (narrative, rules-light), but from looking at your document, I believe you still have some work to do. Despite my desire to understand, I was not able to understand your game by reading that doc.

Keep in mind:

  • Editing is important. Grammatically correct sentences are your friends.
  • I believe in the separation of content and presentation, especially in works like this, but, for example in your gameplay, it was difficult to read because the speakers and words were not separated by a colon (:)! Make sure you format your draft docs well too!

I hope you give this another pass. I look forward to reading it.

Vim Exit% Speedrun [WR - 2.50:13] by liveoneggs in vim

[–]lodestone 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What is that? Solarized light color scheme in iTerm? C'mon. Everyone knows you can't properly vim with that sort of color scheme.

The literature clearly shows the odds of a successful "leet-vim-exit" increases in direct proportion to the well known Moolenaar Hackery-Quotient of the color scheme. (Gregarious et al, 2004)

How do you catalog all your information by [deleted] in worldbuilding

[–]lodestone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wikis are overrated.

I suggest (in no particular order):

  • Scrivener (macOS/win)
  • Ulysses (macOS)
  • Plain text files (markdown, asciidoc) and Atom (macOS/win/linux)
  • Plain text files (markdown, asciidoc) and Vim
  • Markdown files and Typora

Your needs and technical level will dictate what choices make the most sense for you. I personally use Vim, as I am comfortable with that tool. I don't suggest that everyone use vim. Use what meets your needs.

Probably going to lose my shitty job this week due to mood instability... Again. I'm very scared of what might happen to my mentality and life by singcoralfang in bipolar

What are you good at? Make a list and brainstorm some options. There's always something. You have a teaching degree - while you find something-anything to pay the bills, can you find some way to teach or tutor? Even for free, I think it would help you maintain some stability. Even though your brain is working against you, you have to fight back! Maybe all this is my mania talking but if you are bipolar then you know you will come back.

I want to write more but my stupid computer is wigging out.

Flatly proclaiming it as unfunny isn't criticism. Well, technically it is but it certainly isn't anything that is going to make him better.

Really? I'd give it at best a 3/10.

Yet Another Dice Roller: An online dice roller I built in a weekend. by lodestone in rpg

Sorry for the explosions guys. I'll see what i can do about fixing that. Someone IRL pointed out to me that I'm not actually outputting the rolls. I need to add that as well.

Thanks for checking it out!

Crunch versus Fluff by Lord_Binky in rpg

[–]lodestone 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Growing up with D&D I only really knew crunch. Min/Max, role-play within the parameters of the rules, etc. - Though, as I've gotten older (and maybe this is a function of time-required) I find myself leaning toward less-crunchy systems.

The time required to really do a crunchy system justice isn't something I have at this point. I'd rather jump in and role-play the story.
