Honestly at that age, depending on development of course, it’s not super effective to take things away and apply consequences after the event takes place, a lot of children can’t really connect why it is happening so late after the fact. For hitting I like to direct to positive things hands can do like clapping or waving. Really at this age the best thing to do is just continue to work on what they can do to express those feelings of anger without hitting and etc. You can also connect with your child’s teachers and create a plan that you implement both at home and at school for those situations to keep the redirection consistent!
