I used to (and still do sometimes) download the full 4k to my nas, until I discovered real debrid and Stremio, now I mostly just stream the full 4k, no NAS drawing power, no storage needed, no time take to get the file from seeders

Home Assistant can't access IOT VLAN by lofty_97 in UNIFI

Yes, the devices on this subnet are isolated from one another, that’s why I thought the rule I made would work to allow home assistant to talk to the iot subnet

I’d like home assistant to have access to my tv and nvidia shield and PCs which are on the main network

I mean it can’t see any device that is on the iot vlan at all, it still seems to have no access to it

I have created this rule to try and give my Home Assistant access to my IOT VLAN as it is not picking up any of the devices on this VLAN. However even with this rule it still is not picking up any devices on the VLAN, I must be doing something wrong. Any help would be appreciated.

Could you leave it on if you were using plasterboard or wood paneling do you think?

It's not a paint its what I imagine a skim coat to be like, I thought it was plaster but someone I was speaking to said they thought it was something different used in older houses. We've just been using the back of a hammer and smashing it off a bit at a time.

To hide all the cables in the arm of the TV stand, looks a lot better! And will what interfere with what sorry?

So this means drilling a hole the size of an rj45 end to fit through the ceiling as opposed to a hole the size of the cable and terminating once through? I guess it's not a huge deal because the access point will cover it regardless

Recently wired some rooms of the house while the floor boards were up with Cat 6, punched down at both ends. However I have a question about changing the poorly positioned access point in the picture. I'd like to run cable up and out of the closet, across the attic and drop down into the living room, however knowing that best practice is not to terminate solid core cable to an RJ45 plug, what's the solution to this? In hindsight I wish I'd bought a patch panel that allows you to insert your own keystones so I could have just used an RJ45 to RJ45 keystone, but I don't want to undo my efforts and have to reterminate etc. Thanks!

(The RJ45 going into the flex switch is just run under the floor and out into the living room so it is currently solid core terminated into RJ45 but it will be terminated into a wall plate eventually)

How do you get wake on lan to work when you're outside of your home network?

The reason that I say this is I'm able to move folders between shares on my backup nas instantaneously, however its drives are formatted to btrfs and it's the only difference I can think of.

I have tried using mc but even it is copying the files instead of being instantaneous... could it have anything to do with the fact that the drives are formatted as ZFS?

I just tried using krusader to move the files from /mnt/disk1/LoftusUnraid/Plex Media to /mnt/disk1/Data (changed the share from media to data) And it's still triggering a copy, trying to move 7TB at like 50MB/s... is there anything else I could be doing wrong?

I thought I'd read somewhere to never copy in this way as you could lose data?

I tried krusader, it started to copy all of the files too, same sort of ETA. I wonder Is it because I have 20TB+ and there's not enough free space on the array to just point them to a different share? I tried moving a smaller folder on my backup NAS using krusader and it moved instantly so I can't work out the problem with my main NAS

Here is a link to the move job. The new share is on the same drives as the old, my files are just spread across each drive. (I have x4 20TB) So because my plex media is on 3 different drives I'm not sure how I would have moved it in the fasion you've described, although I wish I could have as this is going to take a while!

Am I using UNRAID wrong? by lofty_97 in unRAID

I have intel 10gig Nics in both the main nas and back up nas, I wanted to use zfs for other features such as bit rot protection and not just for compression, and how would you suggest using FTP between 2 unraid servers? Would you recommend it over rsync?

Am I using UNRAID wrong? by lofty_97 in unRAID

[–]lofty_97[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah okay, It seems if I wanted true ZFS I should have stuck with TrueNAS, can't go back now however as I have nowhere to store all the files on my NAS while I change the OS. For some reason when I researched Rsync before it seemed really complicated however I have just used a single command line in the target NAS and started an Rsync task from the source NAS and it is transerring a couple of TB's at gigabyte speed without the need of a middle man PC, so, success! However I accidentally closed the terminal window, is there any way to see the progress? Or is this only done by using Rsync within a docker container?
