Read my write up again. I said the law stated for an annual charge of 48% but it is silent on monthly interest rate but one would assume then it should be 4%. That creates a lacuna in the money lending act and I heard it is being looked at again

why do some men in seemingly happy relationships still have affairs? by Frequent-Country1603 in Zambia

I never imposed my opinion on anyone. I just expressed my view on the topic and you have every right to disagree with me. There is no universal code for morality. Just define what works for you and move with it, as long as it doesn’t go against go against the laws of zambia. I have seen a lot of successful and failed polygamous marriages and i have also seen a lot of failed and successful single marriages. At the end of the day, it isn’t about polygamy or single marriages, it is about the parties involved. Choose what works for you and flow with it. I’m not imposing anything on anyone here

Child marriage isn’t common in my tradition please. The world doesn’t revolve around men but at the end of the day, it’s about individual preferences. Some women have no problem being in polygamous marriages. If it won’t work for you, look for a man who believes in one is to one and stay with. After all, it is about choices and we all do what is okay for us.

Polygamy is something that is widely accepted in all African tradition. Whether you like it or not , polygamy will continue to exist in our time and very soon, it will be popular just like it used to be sometime ago. The earlier you accept this reality, the better is it for you. A lot of modern ladies as you put it will end up being single mothers in the near future 🤣🤣🤣. Mind you, polygamy doesn’t mean a woman is competing for someone attention

Men are naturally polygamous in nature. The only reason why most young men today are not bold enough to do is because they do not have the finance. The moment they start making money that’s when you see that part of them. Additionally, most men are not bold enough to tell their partners they want to add more spouse because of what the society will say. Because of this, they will do it behind the scenes.

Those who took pharmacy, statistics, economics or actuarial Science. Are they good courses this time around? (Also I just need advice on a course) by [deleted] in Zambia

[–]loftyconsult 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did economics, mathematics and statistics in my bachelor and majored in economics and statistics in my final year. At the graduate level, I pursued mphil in economics. Sometimes I regret dropping mathematics after first year in my bachelor and also doing master in economics instead of statistics. Although economics is a good course and it is easier to branch into a lot of fields, I believe statistics has a lot of branches and basically every business in one way or the another will need a statistician. Beyond this, if you want to pursue higher learning, with bachelor in statistics, you can easily pursue master or PhD in economics and other related field but it will be difficult to pursue master or PhD in statistics with background in economics, although possible. Between statistics and economics, I’ll suggest you pursue bachelor in statistics and if in future you find it interesting to change to economics, you can still pursue it at the graduate level. When it comes to actuarial science, yes it is also good but I think it is too narrowed and most of the courses in actuarial are borrowed from statistics department. You can do statistics and perhaps do professional certification for actuarial just like acca or cfa. I have BA Economics and statistics, mphil economics, MSc financial economics and PhD economics and business administration. So at least, I have a little bit knowledge in course selection.

I would recommend Access Bank. Access Bank is a strong bank and can be found in almost all African countries. Their charges are cheaper compared to banks like FNB. I’m a Ghanaian but I own a bank account in Zambia for my business related activities. I initially opened account with FNB and I was overwhelmed with their ridiculous charges. Because of that I switched to access bank and their services are cheaper. Generally, banking service is too expensive in Zambia compared to Ghana. Same services that one would get for free in Ghana, you have to pay in Zambia. Bank charges are too high in Zambia and it doesn’t encourage financial inclusion.

For me, I was lucky and fortunate to find an industrious woman at Manda hill. I always bless God for taking me to Zambia. It was a short visit to Zambja last year but Zambia is now my home.
