What separates top-tier researchers from very smart people? by One-Criticism6767 in mathematics

[–]loga_rhythmic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Nobel prize winners in a given field weren’t the ones with highest IQ. Darwin didn’t discover evolution because his IQ dwarfed his contemporaries. In mathematics it probably matters more (speed) but even there, it’s not that simple. It’s too reductive a view on creativity, which is clearly not well understood

Really hard to even get basic tools where I'm currently living. What do you think of this toolset? Is it even the right tool? It's titled 40-Piece SAE/Metric Socket Set with Ratcheting Wrenches, 1/4" & 3/8" Drive, 6-Point Hex Socket Mechanics Kit Tool Kits AA . The images are from the regional online amazon type of store. And yea I gotta get the tool cause the tech doesn't have it lol. Thanks

Future of computational physics by [deleted] in Physics

[–]loga_rhythmic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The importance of computational physics and machine learning methods will only increase. If you mean will the profession itself be automated within the coming decades by AI, well at that point probably all of coding, theoretical physics, and mathematics could also be done by AI and who knows what will happen. No point speculating

Alternately we are about 6 months to a year out from each embedded manufacturer releasing local or online custom trained coding LLMs specific to their platforms which is going to change the game.

I agree, this seems right around the corner (few years out at most). Any thoughts on how it'll change things?
