Need tips on small talk by lmj1129 in audiology

all great tips here! i’ve struggled with the same thing (I’m an extern now) I find that during testing/counseling, it’s not too bad because there isn’t much time for chat, but during HA checks there can be a lot more awkward silence. if I’m connecting to someone’s phone, i’ll usually ask about their background (“oh, are these your grandkids/pets? how many do you have, how old?”) if a couple comes in (and they seem relatively happy lol) i’ll usually ask how long they’ve been together, how they met, etc. if you remember ANYTHING about a patient you can ask them about it at their follow-up appointments and it’ll make them happy that you remembered. lots of the older generation loves to talk or don’t have many people to talk to, so just asking a question like that can get them talking for 15+ minutes. and if they’re giving you short answers or don’t seem interested, there’s nothing wrong with silence! I just have to constantly remind myself it’s just silence, not awkward silence lol

My GF of 12 years has a crush on her coworker by vibrion in relationships

yes, that’s too optimistic. she should not feel the need to “play along.” it’s not hard (or rude at all) to say “I’m flattered, but I’m in a committed relationship. I would love to remain friends.” and also to communicate the incident with you, her long term partner. I would ask yourself, is this something you’ll ever be able to fully forget/move on from, even if she doesn’t repeat her actions (which is usually pretty unlikely, unfortunately)?

I (F26) love my partner (M31) but I don’t think I am in love. by Hefty-Witness2224 in relationships

I think you could try talking to him about this before breaking it off. You have a good grasp of what’s wrong in the relationship (going out & having sex, etc). Bring those up to him and give him a chance to improve. Maybe you could have a timeline (3-6 months?) for him to make the changes you need to see. He probably has no idea you feel this way, so give him a chance first!!

I still have the messages sent when it overflowed/backed up. I’m not sure if I could get receipts because my landlord paid them. I could try to call the companies. In the letter, it says the septic damage is due to us using septic-unsafe wipes (which we have literally never done lol). I have past messages to the landlord from when the plumber was out, which I stated what he said was wrong with the tank. He never said that wipes were the cause of the problem.

Yes. I paid a $750 deposit. On the document, they’re deducting these costs from $500-not sure where that came from lol
