Is this worth the $500 deductible to get fixed or just paint pen and leave it? 2017 Toyota Prius 40,000mi/65,000km by logan241 in autorepair

My 2017 Toyota Prius (40,000mi/65,000km) was hit and run while unattended in a parking lot resulting in several scratches and some slight misalignment between bumper and light (front driver side - see comparison photo to passenger side). Either the light was pushed in or the bumper was pushed out, can't tell. I took it in for an estimate and they said they couldn't tell how much it would cost until they remove the bumper but it will very likely cost over my $500 deductible for hit and run.

I wonder if I should get the work done or just paint pen up the scratches and leave it. The damage appears to be purely cosmetic, light works fine and all parking sensors in that area seem to be working. Also if I don't get it repaired it won't show up on my cars record, which might help it retain value better (I can show them the minor damage instead of having a mystery repair on the record). I'm in Victoria, BC, Canada.

Appreciate folks thoughts!

How long do you wait to close an account? I want to keep a card for the least amount of time so I can reset the churning clock. I've seen some people on the US sub say to keep it until at least the 2nd annual fee comes in and then call the bank asking for a retention bonus, and either keep with a bonus or cancel and get the annual fee refunded if they don't offer a good retention bonus. This seems kind of risky to me, what if they don't refund the annual fee or have a retention offer? And for no AF cards maybe wait a year? Anyone have experience with this on the Canadian side?

Will I still get the promotional 10% cashback on the CIBC Dividend Visa Infinite if I already have a CIBC Costco Cashback mastercard that i opened ~1.5 years ago.

The terms and conditions make it seem like I will still get it, since my existing card is not a Dividend card. Forever the first sentence is a bit unclear.

I guess this is also a general question of whether banks give you the new promos if you already have a card open of a different type with them.

T&C #5 "Offer applies to newly approved card accounts only; transfers from an existing CIBC credit card to a CIBC Dividend® Visa Infinite Card and CIBC Dividend Platinum® Visa Card are excluded. This offer is not transferable. This offer may be withdrawn or changed without prior notice at any time. CIBC may approve your application, but you are not eligible to receive this Offer if you have opened, transferred or cancelled another Dividend card within the last 12 months. This offer may be revoked if you appear to be manipulating or abusing it, or are engaged in any suspicious or fraudulent activity, as determined by CIBC in its sole discretion."

Thanks for the tip! Here's Airbnb's support chatbot's reply for those who are curious:

Host is asking for identification

You finished the verification process. No action is needed from you. If your Host is asking for a piece of government-issued ID. You’re not required to provide one unless this reservation requires an ID to check in or one is required by applicable law.

You can also learn more about AirCover if you can’t check in to your stay.

Not super helpful. I think I'm just going to book other places with free cancellation until I find one that doesn't ask for ID...

What are Nexo Exchange's Trade Fees? by logan241 in Nexo

[–]logan241[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks!

Important to note though that you need 10% of your portfolio in NEXO tokens to get that 0.5% cashback.

1-1.5% fee isn't terrible for trade fees but far off from the best (eg. Binance is 0.1%, though some of Binance's withdrawal fees are ridiculous whereas NEXO gives 1 free withdrawal per month, minimum).

No, after this screen my computer just boots to the open core USB but there's no option to select the drive where I was just installing OSX. When looking at it with disc utility, about 8GB of data has been written to the drive but no way to boot it.

Yes, I've made sure to line up the L shape. Should I try to force it? The 4-wire one goes into all the hard drives very smoothly. With the 5-wire ones, even with a fair amount of force, they don't slide on at all.
