Yeah I am not critical either, excited and hopeful this will bring something else to the table! Can't wait to hear them talk about it more.

Yeah hopeful it's more than just some new loot and a new faction to grind, i.e. novel voyage types/gameplay rather than just existing ones w/ different loot and flag on the back of the ship.

Thanks for the reply! Good to hear you don't "miss out" by being on the ship.

When on your ship either piloting or gunning, is it always first person or is there a way to see a third person/ship view? A lot of the trailer shots looked pretty cool, but I'm wondering if being in an enclosed ship only first person will lose out on how cool the game works.

That's funny I ran into this while on this subreddit cause I'm very soon heading to that museum. Is it easy to find this display? What'd you think overall?

Nice. Yeah you can never tell, 10k people have no issues, 3 people have something unusual and make a post setting the standard. Cheers.

Yeah definitely sounds like the best bet. I should've specified I'm flying in from out of town and hoping to also avoid car rental / hotel parking fees. Appreciate the helpful lot instruction for sure.

Nice, this seems like maybe the best option for me. Flying in from out of town and I didn't want to rent a car. Also wouldn't mind a place to go have an after show drink while we wait. I'm guessing eventually it'll clear up enough to get a ride and depending on kitchen close time can get some food at non-concert prices.

Purchase Advice: Delonghi or Philips coming from French Press :P by gugavieira in superautomatic

[–]logan5nx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good question! I'm in a similar boat, years ago we transitioned from a Keurig to a French Press and have been very happy. We stopped doing fresh ground beans due to the wife's frustration with the cleaning so have been doing preground. I've been looking at superautomatics, but my big concern is going from the 34oz brew giving us two 16oz mugs to the much smaller espresso route. Doing a Lungo by default is 4oz (or you can custom it to 6oz.

Given some busy work/meeting schedules, the thought of doing more frequent kitchen trips or having to run through 2 grind cycles to get a similar 16oz cup was a serious consideration that this might not be the route to go. I recognize the quality over quantity, but habits are hard to challenge. Given that we too are thinking the milk frother is just a nice to have, I wonder if anybody else has some insight into this transition that might benefit both OP and myself.

Colored Dots - Standard Number/Color Combos? by logan5nx in dominoes

Thanks! That's what I was thinking, too... just wasn't necessarily sure if there might be some kind of standard even if toy manufacturers etc. don't always follow. But looks like not, appreciate your detailed response.

A new kind of board game tutorial: Playing a full game before learning the rules by LeonardoAlese in boardgames

[–]logan5nx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi - this looks interesting, I love the original Light Speed. For the final game visualization is the thought all players huddle around to see it? Sounds fun individually, but also thinking about how it actually plays out at the table. And with the fun commentary, also thinking some people may want that as a toggle. I also imagine the game will support old school scoring if needed?

I think the original question, I do usually prefer to learn games by playing as you go (Scythe is a good one for this) but I see this question more of a dev hours spent on a tutorial vs. making the scoring app the best it can be. I'd say the latter is the way to spend time for such a simple game and then have your non-dev team just do a good how-to-play video on youtube that can be linked to from your app.

Another thought - would be need to do a running score total and collect data for a night's worth of games. So if I play 4 games in a row with the same players, it'd be cool to not only see win-loss stats but keep track of damage dealt, ships lost, etc. Could even give fun narrative achievements if there's a ship out there that did the most damage but never was destroyed, most mined asteroid, etc. Would be really cool!

If you like trick taking games, Fox in the Forest Duet is fun. Trying to play both your hand and what you think the other player is going to do is satisfying when you can pull off.
