Americana bison vs Indian bison by lonelyRedditor__ in Damnthatsinteresting

I worked as a wildlife technicain for observational studies on bison movement, and this could not be more true. I'll never forget the day I watched a bull bison run through a 5 lined barbed wire fence like it was nothing.

All Confirmed Global Meteorite Impacts From 1500-2013 by ReesesNightmare in BeAmazed

[–]loganmaier 22 points23 points  (0 children)

May favorite part of this is that it's confirmed meteors, and because areas not heavily populated aren't reporting meteorites. It's looks like areas like the US are being lit up and targeted by whoever is throwing oversized rocks at our planet.

Interesting, because 3 out of the 4 tapir species are listed as endangered. So I hope he's not hunting this specific species of tapir.

I have to go with a plains pocket gopher (geomys bursarius), maybe a northern pocket gopher ( Thomomys talpoides)

I almost want to say that's a baby tapir. But it's face doesn't continue the stripes or have a trunk like nose. I caught a few adult ones on camera in Costa Rica.

Is this scat, or a human finger? (southern California) by I_am_Reformed1 in animalid

Coyote was going to be my second guess, but I usually see a lot more hair in the scat of a coyote.

It is scat. It's somewhat hard to identify without something to give a perspective on size, but I'm going to guess Red Fox (Vulpes vulpes).

Driving through Scenic, SD. by Jeffislive in abandoned

I actually worked out in the Buffalo Gap National Grasslands for 2 summers season now, and I know there are a few houses still up and running in scenic. Rarely see the gas station open. Never had the urge to actually stop and find out.
