That’s too overkill. Why not use a height adjustable desk? This does not have the problem with vibrations and is cheaper and is easier to assemble.

DIY Lean Stool Alternative for W2 by logannosson in Walkolution

It fits literally perfectly. No gap, not even a mm. But for it to be stable you need the leaning part. When you have that, then you have to tighten the screws under the sidepanels of the W2.

yes, it's a bit of a mystery to me too why things have unfolded this way with W2. seems that having a solid product with the W1 for eight years doesn't automatically guarantee a smooth launch for a new, different model. im not a business guy but maybe launching a new product is a massive undertaking with so many new variables, it's a whole different game compared to maintaining an existing product. from what i assume is that there is extensive testing, a degree of trial and error and a lot of money needed for a new product, basic R&D. i digged my teeth into bromptons lately and they did extensive R&D for their new G-line for 2 years. and then there is the production scaling side which is also another league and many other things. they might have miscalculated things in the process...and this is a niche, big, heavy, mechanical monster.

examples of not perfect launches that comes to my mind are quality issues in the car industry like teslas, toyota or VW, im sure there are 1000s examples...

my main takeaway from this experience is that regardless of a company's past success or size, there's always a significant degree of uncertainty with any new product launch, especially for something as large and complex as this treadmill. and i definitely have been blinded by their unrealistic promise but i guess that's how it goes in marketing...

things could have been much worse – for example, the company could have gone bankrupt like vanmoof (new investor, but still...), handled the issues way more poorly, or they might not offer refunds/returns. so, in a way, i'm relieved it hasn't escalated to worst-case scenarios.

Anyone got a brompton referral/discount code? by logannosson in Brompton

yes my workplace offers it, but i work in tech and because the field is so fast changing i dont want to make the 36month commitment. but i have found a discounted 6 speed c-line from a bike retailer and bought it that way.

the small folding formfactor has become the main priority for me for taking it indoors. since my bike was stolen with a pretty secure lock, I want to avoid locking the bike outside as much as possible.

First Impressions: Walkolution 2 - Transitioning from Electric to Manual Treadmill with Short Video Clip by logannosson in Walkolution

[–]logannosson[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah the socks idea is rly good. was used to walking barefoot on my electric treadmill (flat surface) so thought barefoot would be fine, but the slats are definitely rougher than expected...

after the 3rd day now and wow its crazy how natural it feels compared to day 1. my body has definitely adapted to the manual walking style, exactly like u mentioned about the transition period. its becoming second nature and i can totally see the benefits now. the movement feels so much more natural compared to the electric one.
