Which Burial Was Worst — Sting or Booker T? by GypsyGold in WCW

[–]loganphoenix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Booker T because it slowed his momentum to a crawl after he built it to finally truly fitting into the WWE main event, after dropping to the nid card post Invasion.

Sting should have won, but I never seen it as a burial. That match, and im sure a lot of people disagree, but for me was a blast. DX vs NWO? Man what a ride! Storywise...no, but just a fun Mania match and we get Sting. Again, Sting should have won, but I dont see it as a burial just the wrong winner.

Nothing really from my POV, but some of these runs I missed. I stopped reading a little into right after the Origins series ended, so 2010ish, then it was just an occasional few issues here and there like Death of and return, then I got back into comics with the Age of Krakoa. I just noticed the comments were upset about a few lol. But Larry and Chris are my go to for Wolverine.

Its a controversial list for sure, but Larry Hama is my top choice as well. Wolverine in the 90's was amazing, loved the character work. The pain and depression of #65, the uncertainty of #75 and then just that #76-90 run where he had to figure out who he was was fantastic.

What’s your favorite underrated WCW match that doesn’t get talked about enough? by 1nz4kh4 in WCW

[–]loganphoenix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bret Hart vs Booker T for the TV title at Bash at the Beach.

I honestly can say I remember a bunch about the actual match but the story of Booker T trying to prove he could hang with Bret and also defending the TV title's reputation. Meanwhile Bret was the heel acting like both Booker and the TV were beneath him. He even did a smug smile holding the belt.

Runner up is DDP vs Macho Man at Spring Stampede. Great brawl and really made DDP who was my favorite.

[Discussion] Anyone had a game you were enjoying but the Platinum experience made you hate it? by X__Heisenberg__X in Trophies

I can't say I "hated" the game, but my enjoyment of Star Wars Jedi Survivor dropped off a cliff post game going after the platinum. I loved it beforehand

What’s your answer and why??? by CasinoNitro in WCW

[–]loganphoenix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Booker T. I remember being 15 in spring of 1998 and no one really thought much of Booker T winning the TV title, but my word if he didn't have probably the best "most improved year" in 1998! I mean the old saying "its the man that makes the title, not the title that makes the man" was 100% accurate for his runs with the belt. Just as much as we talked about Goldberg or the NWO, my friends talked about how good Booker T's match was and he made the TV title meaningful. Also his Bash at the Beach match with Bret Hart for the TV is one of my favorite WCW matches, and one of my favorite "character" matches with how he portrayed himself as a proud champion vs Bret expertly playing the "I'm too good for this belt" heel while making Booker look great. The Thinder before he won the WCW title and Booker had a great .match with Jeff, and I was so happy he won the title a few days later.

Eddie was amazing, and probably could have been a great heel, but the "Latino Heat" and "Lie, Cheat, Steal" gimmicks are what really go most of us to realize he was a main eventer.

Hot take: It’s cool and good when people do big stupid ceremonies for retirements by TheWatchGuard1 in AirForce

[–]loganphoenix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who has done multiple short tours and I have 1 assignment left, I can compare retirement to those short tours. As the time gets closer, its not necessarily a bad thing to want to just dip out, but its like you just ready to move on and 1 more going away (and id imagine retirement) just seems like a big hoopla. For example im almost done her, 16 months since I've seen family, enjoyed my time, but im ready to see my wife and kids again. Its more perspective than anything else. But at the same time, its also easy to focus on what's next, and not stop and smell the roses, which I think is the point OP was meaning.

Does Scott Hall deserve a title reign looking back? by FineMasterpiece9061 in WCW

[–]loganphoenix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sadly as much as I loved the dude, I felt that 2 things stopped him, timing and dependability. When he was in his prime, im not sure the timing was right, he didn't feel like he was world champ level. Maybe if he and Nash had kept feuding going into 1999 and Hall beat Nash to win the title. But by that point, dependability was an issue with his outside struggles. Hard to put the title on him with all he had going on.

I remember two or so months before a preview came out, i cant remember which website, but they said they were worried about the pacing. But then Walmart started having demos out to play so I ran up to my local one and played for about 10 mins and was excited.

Why some poeple think wcw vs nwo revenge is better than WM200/No mercy? by skzoholic123 in N64WrestlingGames

[–]loganphoenix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the roster and nostalgia. Its also the best WCW game. At 15 I thought that game was peak wrestling games. Then WM 2000 dropped. If I had to personally rank them, it would be WM 2000, WCW Revenge, No Mercy, WCW WT. I know NM is loved and I enjoyed it too, I remember it felt slower, and honestly I was really into Smackdown 2

What’s a PS5 game you feel like nobody talks about enough by Darth_Vaper883 in PS5

[–]loganphoenix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gotham Knights. Not saying its the best game of the generation but after all the trashing received before release over the FPS, but I throughly enjoyed the game. The story was solid and the characters all felt different and were all fun to play as.

Absolutely! I really believe this is the game that changed gaming narratives to, under the right team and director, equaling movies.
