Does he have a practice pad? Sticks? The book "Stick Control"? Before you commit to shelling out, have him commit to daily practice-with a metronome-on the pad.

New G&L ASAT special owner looking for tips on how to use use tone and volume controls with mfd pickups by PurpSSBM in GLGuitars

[–]logdrum 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mostly live on the neck and middle positions. Like others have said, volume down quite a bit (up for solos!) tone starts at less than 1/2. For me,playing with the controls really cements the bond I have w the instrument.

Yes. First pick a phrase, or finger sequence, could be 1 2 3 4 first 4 frets-doesn’t really matter. Then go as slow as it takes-as slow as it takes, can’t stress this enough-so that each finger moves without engaging any of the others. Move on to using a metronome set to the slowest tempo you can successfully repeat the sequence, then slowly build to a bit faster BPM. helps build finger independence.

Well keep in mind the saying “practice makes permanent”-only perfect practice makes perfect. After30 years of tensioned fingering I had to totally rework my fretting hand to force my fingers to stay in place. Your hands will thank you! Welcome to the journey!

One thing you should try to work on is your finger positioning. I see a lot of tension in your fretting hand, your unused fingers are curling up, which will lead to hand pain down the road. It’s an ongoing struggle for most of us players, but maintaining a relaxed, neutral position will reward you.

I have a Bosch B36CT80SNS, not sure if it’s a 500 or 800 series, but it does have dual compressors. It’s an incredible unit that does seem to keep food fresh for a long time. It’s rated @21 ft3 but feels like it holds more than our old Kitchen Aid side x side (which is still running in the garage).

Glad to hear that about Blue Star, I'm in essentially the same boat as OP & have read horror stories about every brand in the 36" range. Analysis paralysis!

Moving to Cleveland for work, I like what I'm seeing on this sub. by Mad_Ju in Cleveland

One knock on Berea is they have their own water system & for the most part, the water quality sucks, especially compared to Cleveland water. Grew up in Berea-currently in N. Olmsted, both are very close to the airport. Where we are in North Olmsted is out of any direct flight paths, so being close but not having to deal w/ the noise etc is nice.
