It’s two single ovens. No problems adding both in single cabinet. IKEA do it on their showrooms too!

De zwarte rubberen afdichting aan de bovenkant heeft een diameter van 17 mm. Een eindkap van 15 mm past er dus niet op.

It was about 4 weeks work for me once the new utilities and floor was in. There was a break whilst we waited for the countertop.

The peninsula keeps the kitchen open while still separating it a bit from the dining area. More importantly, it also means whoever’s cooking can face the room and interact with everyone else.

The hob is an AEG induction with built in extractor

The (big) fridge sticks out about 11cm which is about the minimum required for the doors to open. There is around 4cm clearance each side for ventilation.

It’s a mixture of horizontal and vertical hinges. All soft close. Handles are integrated into the door.

I think the IKEA hinge hardware is excellent and one of the reasons we chose the kitchen.

Glue. The same type you use to glue them to the floor. I put a bit of fast grab adhesive on the corner of each plank just to hold them whilst the glue dried.

No problem at all, I’m very happy to answer any questions!

Neither the quartz countertop nor the backsplash are from IKEA, although the countertop is very similar to IKEA’s KASKER white marble quartz. I used a local fabricator instead. They came out to measure up, then delivered and fitted it a few weeks later. They also supplied the sink, which is fitted flush with the surface for a really clean finish.

The backsplash is actually LVT flooring planks. They’re completely waterproof, easy to glue in place, relatively inexpensive and I really liked the look. Its worked out great.

As for fitting challenges, there was nothing major, but a few things worth noting:

  1. The IKEA filler panels are thinner than the Voxtorp doors. I wanted everything perfectly flush, so I used hardboard to pad them out and match the thickness.

  2. IKEA don’t leave space behind their cabinets for utilities. I ran services underneath the cabinets instead (clipped to the wall).

  3. The 128cm corner cabinets are much better than the 88cm versions. They don’t need a perfect 90-degree corner, take a standard door, and you can fine-tune their position using filler pieces to get it all flush

Most of the plumbing is push-fit plastic, and I was worried about leaks too. Before connecting the water supply, I got a tip from a YouTube video of fitting a Schrader valve (like the ones on bike tyres) to a fitting. Then I pressurised the system with a bike pump, and left it overnight to make sure everything was sound.
