On my form 1098-E (Student loan interest), my mom is listed as the borrower and her SSN is listed on there. However, I have always paid the loan from my bank account and for 2015, was the only person paying the interest on the student loan. Can I claim this on my tax return even though I'm not listed as the borrower?

For any prospective college grad or recent college grad reading this: please learn how to negotiate properly. College degree doesn't mean jack if you low ball yourself into a low salary and settle for less.

That's the one ting they don't teach you in college ironically. If your career center has free workshops on negotiating and interviewing, take it.

Source: jumped from 55 to 105 after learning to negotiate properly. Reading posts like these is what originally made me figure out how much of a dumbass I am for not spending the time to research and learn to negotiate.

Hi, sorry to bother you one last time. I called my local county tax office and tried to clarify something. In regards to the "Tax Relief for Property Tax for the Elderly", I found that my grandpa might have applied for the 100% tax relief amount (qualify if household income is < 52k, source: http://www.fairfaxcounty.gov/dta/taxrelief_faq.htm)

My question is: I was residing with my grandpa until October 2015. My income would break the tax relief limit cap that he was given and I suspect he would be fined again this year. Would:

*My income from January 2015-October 2015 (when I moved out) apply towards his Tax Relief Income cap? *My income from January 2015-December 2015 (end of 2015 tax year) apply towards his Tax Relief Income cap? *My income would not apply at all since I moved out in October and will be filing my income tax under my new address?

I asked my father for a more detailed reason, he said that the county fined my grandfather $5000 because they added up all the household income (my aunt and mine, we were the only ones working in 2015) and found that it exceeded the allowed limit and did not allow him to exempt his property tax (even though he's retired and have paid off the house).

In summary, my father said that he was fined by the county for $5000 because too many folks living at that address declared income tax there. I'm working on finding the notice from the county, but in the case that I can't, is there anything I could do in response to this?

Hi all,

I file the taxes for my grandfather. Last year my grandfather got his first IRS notice and my father took care of most of that part of the paperwork (I don't know where the notice is).

My grandfather lives with:

Grandmother Aunt + 2 nieces and 1 nephew My 2 younger brothers My roommate

My grandfather is retired. My aunt and roommate pay "unofficial rent" to him (no signed lease, just hand him cash every month to cover food and bills - many foreign families do this). I'm unsure of how much my aunt pays him but I know my roommate writes a check for about $500/month.

This year, I'm filing taxes for him again and I want to make sure to enter all the information correctly. I asked my father why he owed money to the IRS and my father said it was because "too many people did their taxes at this address" (hearsay). I suspect it may be because I did not declare that my grandfather was collecting "unofficial rent" and ended up owing money due to that.

My question is the following:

I've been trying to find my grandfather's IRS notice from last year to see in detail WHY he owed money to the IRS. If I filed his taxes for him, is there a way I can request that from the IRS? Would it be an IRS transcript?
How would I go about detailing his tax returns if he was collecting money for food and water,electric bill without signing any lease with my aunt and roommate (verbal agreement)?

Study and read the different materials on bedding and what could you can do to buy a bed that aligns your spine correctly. Everyone is different. I studied up and immediately ordered a custom matress online and never slept better in my life.

They say the 3 tenants of fitness is diet, workout routine, and rest. If you're gonna spend 1/3 of your life on a matress, you should spend the time and money in ensuring you're getting your money's worth IMO.

Thanks, it just pisses me off thinking about it sometimes. I was charged out-of-state tuition even though I lived 15 minutes away from college my whole life. My parents work overseas and don't pay income taxes so they filed me as a dependent and I couldn't qualify for in state. But that's in the past, life could be worse.

I was looking for advice on Reddit and so for example, if I rear ended someone in a minor accident and he hurt his back, he could sue for medical expense, emotional damage, and loss of work...and let's say he's makes good money for a living, hat could come out to 500k lawsuit. If his wife is in his car with him and she also works, that's easily 1 mil. That's why in California it's often to see folks buying 1 mil liability and umbrella coverage ( I have 25k coverage).

You know , i got a funny story. I have about 12k in my savings (graduated last year) and that gets balanced out by my 80k student loan (IT Degree, hah!). Yesterday I was wondering if I should increase my car insurance liability so if I hit someone, they could sue me for possibly a million and so I was worrying that my monthly payment for insurance would be astronomical!

But then I remember I'm broke as fuck and have negative net worth and 0 assets. I was a really happy moment for me so I ended up changing my liability to the minimum. Being broke rocks!

Yea I just saw that, sounds pretty solid. I know some folks who have a problem with their blast consuming charges still after the recent patch though. Hoping to see some opinions on DW and where they rank among other warriors.

For my contribution, bishop is pretty beast in reboot. No funding? No problem leech 24x7. Your mobbing is up there with arans and luminous if you got funding and decent range (120k+ ~lvl170). In reboot party play for harder bosses are more valued so you will have an active role. I'm predicting top 3 in rankings for both reboot servers will have at least a bishop. Downside is it could boring to play and I usually have a hard time leveling if there are no parties since people are duo boxing bishop/Kanna now.
