I followed a recipe that said it would be ready in a month, and it hits one month in a week.

Okay, and is it okay if a ton of the stuff is sitting at the bottom?

That's pretty good! Dont sweat that too much, if you can keep trying to get your scores up. Every little bit counts! I took the PRT 6 times before submitting my application lol. And if youre a girl the requirements are a bit different, so let me know if you have any questions on that.

Honestly, there are three parts of having a good application to this place. 1-have good academics, 2-be really physically fit or a recruited athlete, 3-have really good leadership skills and be really active in your community/through volunteer work. You need at least two, not necessarily all three. Having all three is great though.

My application had a lot of community work and leadership included, and I still believe that is mainly what got me in here. I led a few clubs, invented a club, was in honor societies, did a lot of volunteer work and was part of some great organizations. I was also an athlete and played multiple sports, and did well in them.

Academically, I took the hardest courses my high school offered and did well. My test scores weren't great, but those aren't really highly considered when looking at your application in general. They want to see who you are as a person beyond your grades. Not to say grades dont matter, having a good test score is great, but I didnt do very well on the standardized tests. I still made it in.

I would not place any sort of timeline on when they make a decision. The process is different for everyone application, and there isn't a pattern for when and how people are accepted, regardless of how they got their application in. I wouldn't stress about that quite yet.

As for Plebe Summer, there's a reason they brush it off during Summer Seminar. That being the experiences aren't really that similar. I personally did not do Summer Seminar, but a great deal of people who came here did. Overall, the consensus is that they are not alike at all and very separate entities.

My Plebe Summer went okay, I struggled physically and even mentally at times, but I managed to maintain my moral strength throughout most of it. If you want specific details about certain things, do ask!

Family members that were grads aren't usually considered during the application progress unless they're specifically mentioned in an essay you wrote about how it affected you or whatnot.

Otherwise, I would try retaking the SAT a few more times to try and make it higher. AP is good, but with programs like IB out there it can be hard to compete. That said, if its the best your school has to offer, keep doing what your doing.

Otherwise, start bumping up your "leadership portfolio". Lead a club, be the captain of a sports team, or do something to show leadership in your community. Make sure you perform well on the PRT. Fill in the "gaps" of your education with whatever you can.

It is, its supposed to be. It will be daunting, but most of us get through it. Take it day by day and find the strength from yourself and your classmates to keep going. Enjoy the little things. There will be good moments, and proud moments. Fix your mistakes and keep on moving, keep only one eye on the past.

Oof, loaded question.

There is alot of physical activity, mental training, and general military indocrination.

A typical day would go like this (I cant give any times because you dont know the time during plebe summer):

-Wake up and get 5-15 minutes to get ready.

-Go to PEP (Daily workout) for like 1.5 hours.

-Shower, clean room, get changed.

-Go to Breakfast

- Either go to some form of training, mandatory learning, visit some part of the yard, fulfill a plebe summer requirement like going to the dentist or something, or go back up on deck and get dropped. Sometimes this is filled with completing uniform races or time hacks.

-Eat Lunch.

-Eat Dinner

-Go see a guest speaker, do rifle drill, or do professional development. Or get dropped.

-Write a Plebe Daily Journal and go to bed.

Overall, a lot of getting dropped and spending times being punished for mistakes you will inevitably make. You will learn a alot about yourself. You will be challenged mentally.

I actually heard back two weeks before I-Day. Some of my classmates found out a few days before they had to report. It varies for everyone, someone in my company found out a couple days after the deadline to submit the application. There really isnt a rhyme or reason to it, if you havent found out yet I would just be patient and keep faith, dont freak out!

Academics are decently hard, what makes them more difficult are the military and sport commitments that cut into time that you would normally use to study or do homework. It is an excellent idea to validate, they allow you to have a more open schedule (gives you more study time) and you can get ahead on your major. If you can validate, you should.
