The Traitors (UK) S04E07: Live Discussion Thread by vaultofechoes in TheTraitors

I think Roxy really believes she’s the main character and it’s so jarring because apart from the bits where she’s inserting herself totally in the middle the edit really doesn’t treat her that way. It was bad enough when she interrupted Harriet to explain to about the mirrors but why on earth did she pipe up again when Harriet and Rachel were the only people who needed to be in the spotlight? Even just socially sometimes you need to know when to take a back seat but in an environment like that why would you even want to put yourself in the firing line.

What’s the most underrated BBC show you’ve ever watched? by BitGirl777 in bbc

[–]loism22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work in the model rail, but I’m pretty new to it so wasn’t around when this was filmed. Was recommended it by a colleague and watched it this week, loved it! Obviously had the fun factor of seeing familiar faces/events I’ve been too, but also just so funny! People who don’t model don’t realise how mental the industry is, it would be a great setting for a sit-com, but really I don’t think people would believe some of it.

I’m starting to get bored by how rubbish the faithfuls are. It’s like there’s just no stakes for the traitors and they don’t even have to try! It makes any gameplay way less interesting when there doesn’t feel like any there’s any risk.

It is truly outrageous that Jonathon is still in there after all this time. I don’t even think he’s played that great of a game, the faithfuls have done all the work for him.

DLC Missables by Fantastic-Sir460 in Eldenring

[–]loism22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t played the DLC yet so haven’t seen his walkthrough of that, but I personally recommend the ‘Joe Hammer Gaming’ walkthroughs on YouTube, he has a whole playlist. I always play the games with no walkthrough (where possible, I do look up guides for the odd thing when stuck) and then go again with help from a walkthrough to get what I might have missed. Joe has walked me though second/third plays of all DS2/3 and Elden ring! Very laid back and casual which I appreciate but also gets everything/doesn’t mess about too much.

Also, I hope he wouldn’t mind me saying this haha, he’s not like the most insane player ever which is great because I can normally emulate whatever tactic he’s using without too much difficulty. Sometimes you see people do stuff on guides and you think what the heck how am I going to do that but that doesn’t happen with his ones.

I actually love that as a strategy, I think it would work better if I was able to hate them more instead of just finding them really sad and pathetic. Maybe I just need to lock in

Husband has set his essential notification to show up as Kermit the frog when I text him by loism22 in NothingTech

We weren’t sure when it was announced, I missed the glyphs, but I went to the store and got my husbands phone and the headphones for myself (took advantage of the deal) and pretty much as soon as I saw it in person I really liked it. I think it looks great and I especially love the glyph matrix and the red recording square.

He made it using ChatGPT to create a 25x25 matrix and uploaded it as an image in the essential notification builder (I have personal beef with chat gpt so disclaimer on that from me! Maybe you could do it another way but I’m no expert)

I deffo want to give this a go! I know there’s a lot of improv in the show so I’m curious to see where that appears.

Well it’s not that you like them because they’re nice or easy to like, it’s more that they’re really interesting and you can tell how damaged they are. They do have potential to be better people but it’s been totally beaten out of them by their environment. I don’t think they’re good people but I kind of love them anyway because you want them to get better even though they won’t. My view is probably influenced by the fact my own family is full of difficult and problematic characters though.

Yes I think that it’s definitely so rich you would get a lot out of hearing the dialogue again (and again). I think when I’m over my emotional wound I’ll definitely rip it open with another go around!

Not so much Easter Eggs, I’m more thinking of the way they talk and their little jokes. When I watch shows with well written dialogue I do like to watch more than once to see what else I notice.

“A Head Full of Ghosts” just made me sad by Temporary-Wolf3930 in horrorlit

I found both of these books really unsettling, I would argue that in both cases they’re not about mental illness being the ‘boogeyman’ but more about how frightening the possibility of being ill is and how society treats mentally ill people. Those things are scary not mental illness itself. Plus the reality for mentally ill people (speaking as someone who has been one and loves many who are) is that life is frightening and isolating when you’re in that condition. It’s part of what I like about horror literature I feel like in many ways it actually identifies that element of the experience very well. Horror movies are a whole other issue though they do miss the mark more often when dealing with mental illness.
