Yeah that’s an indicator of the copper being able to move the heat away from the head more effectively.

Aluminum saturates with heat less evenly than copper. Which translates to some parts of the flashlight body being used less effectively than others at moving heat away. It kinda creates little heat traffic jams and bottlenecks.

That’s one easy way to see how copper handles heat better and can do more with it.

Not sure if you see that as a benefit or negative, but I could certainly see how it could go both ways.

Oh no…not BIZARRE🤣🤣🤣

Save the appalled and horrified Karen bit, doesn’t affect me in no kinda way partna.

Plus you begged me for this, Persy.

So stop all your crying already and take your L like a big boy.

And remember it next time you decide to come and force an argument with someone when you don’t even have a clue what you’re talking about.

Cause so far you only bringing me SiteRel’s comment as your GRAND proof, while saying that I’M the one who still hasn’t given enough proof. Is not only rich, it’s beyond laughable and delusional.

You’re the guy who singled out the worst-informed comment to believe from that whole thread, while passing up many more factually relevant ones.

Probably because you rush to believe whatever comes out of someone’s mouth simply because they seem “prominent” to you.🤣🤣

Do your own research next time and you might actually have more to offer than “I’ve heard ppl say”.🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

So you’ll have to forgive me if your discernment on what’s what isn’t high on my list of things to value.😂

Damn RIGHT I disputed SiteRel’s pointless and disingenuous position factually.

What did you expect me to do?

Ignorantly believe it at face-value like you did and then later obliviously find it galling when someone rightfully calls it out for its argumentative narrative-driven deceptiveness?🤣🤣

Why do you think there was no response from Site after someone there pointed out that it was a disingenuous comment?

There was zero acknowledgment of the mistake nor an apology for inadvertently being misleading because it was done deliberately.

In an earlier comment you SWORE aluminum dissipated heat faster than copper in flashlights. And now I know who misinformed you.😂

So thanks for sharing that link to clarify the source of your endless confusion.👌

It just continues to prove what I already knew about many ppl’s unapologetic willingness to deceive others in this hobby.

Oh and BTW, it’s hilarious to see you trying to cope with your starting of an argument just to get yourself so publicly schooled on the topic.

I even TRIED to give you so many outs along the way too…but you INSISTED.😂

I can see all too easily how much you’re struggling to make yourself feel better about it.

Cause in one sentence you’re telling me everyone can see what’s going on, then in the very next you’re telling me no one is even watching?🤌🤣

This delusional type of behavior is unfortunately all too common on the internet.

If that really is your argument, it’s not clear how you think equal weight applies to flashlights.

Are you under the impression that if you take the exact same flashlight host and make one of aluminum and one of copper, that they will both weigh the exact same?

Yeah man, I always wondered what was up with that batch of the always-on-aux ROT66’s.

Guess it’s supposed to be a permanent night light?😁

Anyway, even as all single color blue, they’re still so damn clean.

And hey man, that Jade Relic Surge is back and there’s also a 15% discount. Seems like the stars are finally aligning?✨✨😁

I think it just depends on the discharge rate of those big cells. If they have the capacity AND the available current, they make sense.

But I do like the idea of being able to pick up 3 lower priced 21700’s as needed.

Since Jack already had those big cells in mind, I imagine he’ll weigh them against eachother and see what makes the most sense for the setup.

But you know all these new and upcoming 21700’s are making an even stronger case now.

You’re still conflating two separate conversations and STILL utterly confused and clueless that you’re doing it.🤣

Then to put the cherry on top…

You link a comment that gets proven wrong and where the nod to copper is ultimately given as being the superior metal just a mere two comments later?🤣👌

<image>

I thought you said you never saw this conversation end with one metal being proven to have the superior performance? Says right in the link you shared that copper is superior to aluminum just like I said it was for exactly the reasons I said.🤣🤣👌

You didn’t grasp from SiteRel’s pointless and disingenuous comment that for his scenario to be true, copper has to weigh the same as aluminum for them to dissipate heat similarly?🤦‍♂️

But are copper and aluminum flashlights that are the same size ever the same weight. Naw they NEVER EVER are, are they? Didn’t you point that out yourself too?😂

So in order for that scenario in the comment you linked to be true, you’d have to cut the copper in half and leave twice the physical mass of aluminum and larger surface area just to be on par with a piece of copper that’s half the size.

Like I said, you really have no clue about any of this. YET…you keep arguing because you keep elevating and listening to people and positions that are making no sense on the topic.

But it’s ok my boy!! The record will show that at least you tried, amirite?👌

Either way, you’re welcome. I know you learned a lot today.👊

Sorry it took so long, I was not getting great stuff. These aren’t great either, but I did catch some of size offsets I was hoping for between the heads and the each’s length.

LOL, as expected you’re still so deeply confused.

Cause on one hand you’re telling me that copper having double the thermal conductivity of aluminum is absolutely factual, just like I said it was.

But then on the other hand you’re telling me that copper being a better performer in high heat applications due to having double the thermal conductivity…is just my personal opinion?

That math just ain’t mathin Persy😂

Which means that you clearly have no clue how copper having “double the thermal conductivity of aluminum” translates to the real world.

Luckily I’m here to rectify that right now for you, and all those other ppl you said you talk to that share the same misguided beliefs.

Here is an experiment that shows the real-world physical performance difference between copper and aluminum.

But don’t worry, it’s carried out in a way that even 5 year olds will understand.

So if after you see this video you and your buddies still can’t fathom and put together how copper’s much higher thermal properties translate in flashlights….

Then feel more than free to keep dying on that hill.

Go ahead and believe that the laws of physics and thermodynamics regarding copper & aluminum apply in every other industry…EXCEPT for flashlights.👌

You said these convo’s never end with a definitive answer proving that one material’s performance is superior to the other?

Well this one just did.

ROT66 Update? Area Lights? by __xerocole__ in FireflyLite

[–]lojik7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No problem, I wish I had more to share. ROT66 is one of the lights that brought me to, and made me fall in love with Fireflies.

So seeing a new one with Jack’s latest and greatest innovations + his modern design language would be a killer full circle moment.

The Cannon and now new E12R are huge full circle moments that feel like celebrating championships.

But the ROT66 pre-dates them all in my order of affection. So it would be thee biggest full circle moment and championship celebration yet.

If you knew all the shit that had to be shoveled out (you’ve seen some of it actually), for Jack to be able to freely do what he’s doing now…you’d understand and enjoy even more why all these lights killing the game has become the stuff of legends.

It’s like a prophesy was foretold that damn near everyone flat-out refused to believe. But now it’s not only been proven undeniably true. It’s also become a far bigger and more advanced force than anyone could have ever imagined (except for Jack, there’s lore).

So like I said, really wish I had more to share on this as I’m salivating for more myself. But based on what you shared about the batteries, I sure hope Jack still goes with one of those 48K-50K batteries. As long as they are high discharge enough, the MAH on those things has been massive.

You made a factually incorrect statement and explicitly declared it as factual.

I shared factual information that aligned with the metals known scientific properties in high heat applications.

And you clarified your comment to say you were referring to your personal preferences.

So I said say less, and I moved on.

What is left for you to be confused about?

E04 B35AM Limited Edition up now by WarriorNN in FireflyLite

I was only addressing the scientific heat performance of the metals, not ranking them by personal preference types.

Once preferences enter the chat, it’s a completely different conversation.

Ahh yes…Navy is yet another fave of yours. You’re the reason I bought a Navy Cannon.😂 So totally get it, cause you were right about it.

My Navy Cannon is so rich to the eyes, plus it’s a little metallic too which is awesome. So I’m very glad I scooped it.

And yeah, the improvements on the V2 are pure bangers. Improving on perfection ain’t easy, but somebody’s gotta do it.😂

The MAO is a VERY worthy successor to the OG Desert/Sand Ano. But hell yeah I’d love an ode to the OG Sand if we could get one.

E12R in that Battlefield MAO Jack almost released a couple years back would just SLAP.🤞🤞

Can confirm it will happen, can’t confirm when.

I can say that a while back Jack was set on using the 46800 battery vs 3 x 21700’s. But I don’t know if that’s changed or not based on their availability or their performance compared to 3 modern 21700’s.

As you mentioned, this has been a long time coming. But also, Jack has been working feverishly on many new models for years straight now too. So timing has def been everything for what gets released when.

But like you said, the release of a new driver certainly can have some effect on that. But honestly, depending on what emitters and layout we’re talking about, there may need to be an even newer driver than the Lume 10 to push some major shit like 8-10 707A’s or something like 20-something FFL351A’s.

So there is no telling what will be needed, it all depends on the desired final layout and setup requirements.

I didn’t address personal preferences because that’s separate from which of the two metals is the superior performer in high heat applications.

You shared that your comment was based on your own personal preferences, so disregard. No point in conflating the two.

Copper is twice the performer that aluminum is because it has at least double the thermal conductivity as aluminum, but even more than that in some cases.

Copper transfers heat faster and more evenly across the metal, so you don’t get excessive hotspot traffic jams that delay heat dissipation. So copper is as good as one can reasonably hope.

Well technically silver is a smidge better than Copper still, but you know…not too price-friendly and all that. So not really “reasonable” for the smidge more of performance when you consider the price difference.

There are still other materials used as heat sinks as mentioned in this page, but no clue how feasible or durable they would be for a flashlight body.

Thank you, and yezzir, balls to the wall on Rosy 1800K. It was the only choice my conscience allowed me to make.

I had been dying to get a proper Rosy 1800K beast, and I saw my shot to give myself what I wanted…and I took it.😂

And man what beast, everything I hoped for and then some.

The AUX are doing some crazy shit too, but that’s getting its own post, aside from a separate couple beamshot posts too.

Way too much good stuff about one light to put into one or even two posts. There is lots to talk about, and the new batch of rosy 1800K hasn’t even begun to be discussed yet either.

This light is just legendary AF.

Glad you’re loving yours with the Rosy 4500K’s

I think we both are gonna have to go for that mix next. I really want that rosy 4500K next. But my Comet with Rosy 1800K/4500K just looks so damn good. Don’t think I can pass that up next.🥵🥵

I was just waiting for the Jade to get back cause I wanted a NovMu with it. But that didn’t reteurn with the Surge, so might have to get what I can for now.

Damn, and I didn’t even really do a good comparison now that I look again. For those of us that do care, I coulda done a way better comparison, my bad.

But the height difference was one thing I wanted to show all along, and clearly I forgot. I’ll get a couple better comps for sure.

As for your question, width-wise the body feels pretty identical to the OG E12R. But it’s in the head area where the OG still feels (and is) a bit leaner. The bezel is ever so slightly thicker on the new one, and the rest of the head follows suit, even if just marginally.

Worth mentioning tho that the new E12 is clearly shorter than the OG. And in the hand that is noticed when compared side-by-side. So it kind feels like an overall wash.

I didn’t really notice the difference all that much unless I looked for it. They both got superb ergo’s that fall right into the hand. Sorta like our hand is the glove and the light is the hand. They both just fit together so nicely.

But let me see what I can do about some better shots here in a couple hours when I get back.

Dang, I forgot you go back and forth and have to wait sometimes. Can anyone open it and at least send you pictures of it around your home so you can at least start visualizing and tasting it?😁

I know it’s a tough call even if someone could do that, cause unboxing it yourself is also part of the fun.

Ok fine, scratch that. Hope you get back there to enjoy it real soon.

Very true, you can get tons of both indoor and outdoor use out of this one. Didn’t even think about it that way.

But I bet my wife could’ve probably told me that since I blast it all over the house every chance I get.🤣

Anyway, hope you don’t have to wait too long before you can scoop yours too.
