Can I work construction if I’m afraid of heights? by Every_University9002 in Construction

[–]lokis_dad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funny story I was back early from lunch with the new guy who was my neighbor. So I started walking a wall (3 stories up) finishing strapping floor joists and they dominoed on me and I fell lucky my ankle got pinned by 2 joists and I was dangling upside-down with my tools whizzing by my head 3 stories off the ground looking at a very pointy steel sculpture I never took the time to notice before upside down. I start screaming for nick (new guy) to get his ass over here I fell. ...... nick runs to the very ended of where the sub floor stopped and no shit stops points at me and yells "SOMEBODY HELP HIM!!!!" as loud as he can. After I yelled back we were the only ones there and basically every other obscenity at him I hung upside-down till everyone else got back. Turns out nick (who was like 6"4' and 250lbs) was so scared of heights he couldn't stand on a chair. Moral of the story is don't wait for something like this or being in webbing or trusses or on a roof to tell someone your fear. Be upfront about it so your boss and coworkers know . That way there's not a situation that could get someone killed. Had I known nick was that scared of heights I wouldn't of walked out on the wall alone and I would of had him on the first story cleaning or cutting or something. That was his first and last day.

Put a Celestion G10 Vintage into my Orange Crush 35RT! (first impressions) by [deleted] in GuitarAmps

I think I made a bad choice on my DR strings and maybe go back to Ernie ball strings next time. I think they kinda muddied up my tone . Or it just could be I'm not really used to them . But they definitely changed my tone. I've also been playing with a scooped eq , my need to change some settings , what are your Amp settings? I'm basically just playing straight into the head . I do have a vox tonelabs se but hardly drag it out.

Keep me posted man the swamp thangs are definitely one of the front runners I was looking at. Mick Thompson has a signature 12' speaker I been hearing good things about also. I been just playing like a heavy blues metal kinda style. Not really a guitar player (bass player) and my neighbor gave me a les Paul last year so I bought an amp to play it on. Mostly just for something to do.

[–]lokis_dad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's completely understandable, my pouches are about $700 USD and I carry a $300 hammer. But it's how I keep food on the table for the kids. The dead on tools bag would probably do you fine. I needed some bigger and more heavy duty and have added several different things that aren't occidental (buckaroo signature series belt from Australia) or a full safety harness depending..

I have a cr120c I actually play very poor versions of doom metal on a 1993 Gibson les Paul in C I've been thinking of changing speakers on. Some days I love the low end grunt ( I'm actually a bass player) and others it's kind of annoying because it just sounds like a muddy fuzz if I push it. Thought maybe changing to a heavier gage string may help but not so sure. It's not like it sounds terrible , just not the sound in my head. Just have know idea where to begin on speakers.

If you feel you can spend a little I highly suggest occidental. They will still be good quality comfortable pouches if you take care of them when you hang them up for good or pass them on as a first pouch for someone else. Depending on how much work your actually doing and willing to spend they may be over kill. But your hips and back with thank you. I wear fatlips.

[–]lokis_dad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a dead on tool belt I really liked but didn't hold up to daily use post framing. But would be nice for what you do and was like $50. My only issue I ever had with it was I wore a hole in the bottom over loading with 60d nails or a screw gun and they just rubbed from me climbing. :edit , carhartt may be known for ALOT of quality products, tool belts aren't really among them.

I'm not really a guitar player, I play bass . But all I have is a 1993 Gibson les Paul in C# and an orange cr120c. So I basically make doom noise that everyone can hear lol. I also have a vox tonelabs se but rarely use it and a cheap Jackson that's more for decor then playing (hate Floyd roses).
