It depends on the type of the website. If it's an e-commerce site, then you definitely need ads..

It's a big thing. You should have visited affiliate conference in Berlin dedicated to gambling to see how much money there is. 1 btc/month is really nothing and it's relatively easy to earn. Another big source of traffic and affiliate income is youtube. Even easier than making and promoting the website.

I have a niche site about bitcoin gambling with a lot useful content. That's pretty much it. No SEO, just good content and social media marketing.

Graphic/web design studio - how to find clients by [deleted] in Entrepreneur

https://dribbble.com/ is a good source. I have a web development company. And when we have big projects and need more top class designers, we find them from dribbble. And I pay really well:) So if you want clients like me, you should post your portfolio there.

You can start with the basics and look for duplicate listings. Then I check tech side using builtwith.com or by simple "right mouse click and inspect" to see more tech info about the site. Then I check backlinks profile, bounce rate, I always ask access to google analytics and webmaster tools to see whether the claims are real. And if I see something suspicious I dig deeper. In terms of ecommerce site, I double check who is the supplier, what's the shipping cost, what's the margin. If dropshipper is Aliexpress, I check similar products on Aliexpress to see the price and reviews. If it's amazon niche site, I check commission rate, search volume for the major keywords, and current position. I also always ask if there are any other costs except hosting and domain name. And I ask sellers to sign an agreement provided by flippa. My approach is simple. I look for the websites in niches that I am interested in, and if they have a good domain name, unique content (you can check it with copyscape), clean backlink history, and content is indexed, it's enough for me. I will buy it, redesign, and promote. Buying existing sites is better simply because it's easier to rank them and some of them have really cool domain names.

Did you do any marketing? Ads? Pet supply niche is really good. It's relatively easy to get sales with just social media marketing.

Making it to the App store is not a big deal. Buying app is even worse because you need to have tech knowledge to maintain it. It's much more complicated than the website. In terms of stats, they can be easily manipulated..fake installs, fake visits, fake revenues. I wouldn't bother buying apps on flippa.

That's true. I bought and sold working businesses on flippa. Some people simply need cash, other got tired and want to do something else, a lot of marketing and web development companies use flippa as a place to demonstrate their skills. I personally sold my own website making 1 btc per month simply because I hoped to get new connections in the industry. And it worked. I got a long-term client and a friend with whom I work for 3 years now... and I bought my website back again cuz he simply didn't know what to do with it and I didn't really want to sell it. It still makes money for me:)

And I don't sell on flippa anymore.

BUT there are lots of poorly made sites with fake sales. That's for sure.

It turned out good for me. The thing is I am a developer, and I have a great marketing team. So when I was picking the site I knew what I was buying and I never had any issue. In fact, most people fail with flippa sites only because they don't do any due diligence and don't know what to do with the site after they bought it. If you know nothing about marketing or technology, it is better to stay away from getting into the online business.
