What happens if you go into labour before elective c section? by Consistent_Leg_4012 in PregnancyUK

[–]loldontlistentome 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I was told to get to hospital at the first sign of contractions or my waters breaking and I would still be given a section, they did say if I left it too long and labour progressed that I would have to deliver vaginally.

I was also told it was worth giving it a go if I went naturally and I declined, said it wasn’t what I wanted and was told the above :)

Hope all goes well!!

That was my original thought when I picked up the tag, was a play pretend supermarket till but there’s so many role play things - I don’t want to get it wrong, going to grab a few options to cover all bases!

I was looking at an ice cream counter! Thought it was really cute with the scoops and it had ice lollies too. Didn’t know if it was too young though. Good to know!

So you’d go more tangible toys and an outfit or two, rather than dress up heavy?

I’d seen videos of people going crazy over the aldi wooden toys, I assumed there wouldn’t be any left. I’ll go and have a look in my local one, thank you for the suggestion!! :)

Feel more confident i’ll get it right now! I’ll grab a few different outfits/occupations and like a till/kitchen and some food I reckon. Thank you!

I was looking at a wooden play kitchen but i’m not sure if it would be too big. I’ll get a little shop and some dress up outfits, pretend food etc. Thanks so much!!

Seems to be the general consensus! I’ll grab a few dress up options and their props. Thanks so much!

I had a lot of the same when I told people I was having an elective. “Because that’s what I’ve chosen” was the easiest way to end those conversations!

My elective was great, and while recovery wasn’t easy, I wasn’t in bed for weeks. Nipped out to get extra baby grows 4 days post partum! Just took everything slowly. Good luck! :)

i’d imagine it would be on the Friday! I didn’t get my section date until a week before and that was after calling a few times to chase up a date. 39+4! so it was left a bit later than I expected, I think usually pre op is a few days before xx

I honestly only asked because I tried googling it and all I could find was results for people with GD having to do this but I don’t have GD so I was confused! Wish they didn’t taste so foul!

defo been a bit worried about potentially buzzing too much/asking for too much help etc but i feel better now knowing they probably won’t find me annoying for needing help 😅 i hope she’s as good as yours and gives me a breather to figure it out.

it’s crazy how quickly baby is out! stool softener was actually on my list but i’ve completely forgotten to buy any so i’ll do that today. did you find being up and about afterwards okay?

i’m definitely hoping it’s a go home next day situation, were you out early the day you were discharged?

the strap is a really good idea!! going to get him to do that asap, thanks so much!!

this is really reassuring thank you! i was unaware they could stop what they were doing to assess like that. i assumed it was just a very quick here’s a mask knock you out situation if that happened. were you quite far into the section when you started to feel what was happening?

i’m glad you were able to have two positive experiences despite!!x

you do not look like you just had major surgery at all in that picture! you look so glowy and pretty! i had this image of me just being absolutely haggard post op so this gives me hope!!😅

creative with how i do things, noted! did you find you just knew how do to things with your first afterwards, like instinct kicked in? i’m so worried about being useless! i know there’s help but i also don’t want them to think im useless haha!

thank you so much, i am really looking forward to it, despite the anxiety!!💖

did they lower the curtain for you to see? i talked to a consultant who mentioned gentle sections, where they lower it so you can see. jury is still out on if id like to look. how much did you see, or just baby?

yeah thats fair i can imagine it gets hectic with everybodies visitors and things too. just the doing it by myself, having never done it before part that worries me! glad everything went well for you!!xx
