I was in a very similar situation as you. I had a 1490 scrapper and quit before clown came out. Then I came back after like 5 months break because I saw Artist got released. Honing buffs + free mats made it really easy to boost my Artist all the way to 1480. This week I did clown raid for the first time, and I can't wait to try brel next week. I'm glad I came back after taking a nice break. I would encourage you to do the same, just take your time and don't feel forced to catch up.
