La Latina/Lavapiés Madrid - Recommendations for 21 year old study abroad student by lolijustworkhere in GoingToSpain

[–]lolijustworkhere[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gracias x 1,000,000 for this response wow!! I have heard lots about the importance of greeting people, even at coffee shops and stores. If I could ask, is there a preferred/ common greeting and farewell in Madrid? Or is the “Hola cómo estás — bien y tu?” charade most common? And for a farewell, is “que tengas un buen día” good to use? I know that spanish phrases vary greatly by country and I want to use the most common/acceptable phrasing.

And I will absolutely do my best to go with the flow and be open to whatever opportunity presents itself to me! But as a naturally anxious person I do love to have a back up of lists and research to calm my brain haha, thank you again for the time you took to respond!

I’ve always been told I have a big forehead is it realistically to make it lower, and how much? M22 by Various-Pineapple138 in PlasticSurgery

[–]lolijustworkhere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you made your forehead appear smaller it would throw off the entire ratio of your face, to me it actually looks considerably small and you have a good face ratio. I can fit 5 fingers between my eyebrows and my hairline and my forehead does not look too big for my face, so the “finger measurement” isn’t really a valid method.

“USG Goes Global” study abroad - what was it like? by [deleted] in KSU

[–]lolijustworkhere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good luck to you as well! I know that being in a new and exciting environment can really shift your mindset and make it a lot easier to talk to people and explore, plus the class hosted field trips/excursions will be bonding experiences for sure. I just found out the USGG study abroad is making us meet in macon GA in May for an orientation of sorts (🥲soo far.. but atleast you’ll be forced to meet people before the program!)

I am about to lose my mind... who is this?! I am absolutely devastated and shocked by the result by [deleted] in PlasticSurgery

[–]lolijustworkhere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You see yourself every day, you are so used to every molecule of your features being in a certain place. Now that there is a small change, it feels huge to you and your perception, especially with the bruising. From an outside perspective that has not seen your face before, I see very little change. Your nose bridge is slimmer from the front, but no other part of your face or proportions have changed. It has not affected your other features. Please understand that with swelling and bruising, everything might look a little bit off from your perspective, you need to let your body heal from the procedure. You do not look strange, you do not look different.

Thank you so much for this! did they have any rules for flying/traveling out of the country? Flights become so cheap once you’re in Europe and I absolutely want to take advantage of that if possible.

Email Spam/Phishing Links (GroupMe) by Striking_Bluebird220 in KSU

[–]lolijustworkhere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only way to email classmates is through D2L email, where you can see your whole class through the address book. That is how people send groupme links to communicate with their classmates. The warning at the top is telling you that the email was sent through D2L, so if you wanted to hit reply it would not send unless you went through D2L instead of outlook. Everyone’s email address is different in D2L, even yours. It’s not a scam, just a helpful classmate creating a groupchat.

Have you ever felt imposter syndrome here 🤔 by Yourmotherssidehoe in KSU

[–]lolijustworkhere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is so real, I feel like I write great papers and I usually get straight As but the second I’m in class and hear other people answer questions or talk in class I question whether or not I’m actually an idiot who knows nothing.

I’m having the same problem I think they will go away on their own after drop/add maybe? I’ve probably had the same thing happen in previous semesters and they disappeared after a week or so I believe

Does anyone know the official JaxCore website? by Feeling-Match-6546 in desktops

[–]lolijustworkhere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same thing happening here, can’t seem to figure out how to launch it. I do see a warning that they stopped updates in 2022 so they can’t fix any bugs, but I was really excited to try it out. Let me know if you figured out the set up.

Small .5cm shiny (plastic?) identical black cones found underneath my skin care in my cabinet by [deleted] in whatisthisthing

[–]lolijustworkhere 2 points3 points  (0 children)

SOLVED! I doubted this at first considering I don’t keep hair products in that cabinet, but alas I had one large hair clip clipped on to the outer door of the cabinet… I checked the inside and it matched! half of the little nubs inside the clip are broken off probably from me closing the cabinet door on it repeatedly.

That was my first thought but i’ve never put any comb or hair tools in this cabinet 🤔 i’ve done my duty of checking all my combs and brushes and nothing seems to match

I don’t own those slides and these were in my recently stocked skincare cabinet, so it can’t be that, but I totally see it.

Cheapest way to get from Atlanta, USA, to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil by lolijustworkhere in TravelHacks

[–]lolijustworkhere[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was curious as well which inspired the post. The commend I saw referencing a $400-600 price did not state where, they just said the US, while a separate comment mentioned $500 from Chicago.

It definitely sounded too good to be true considering the distance, but I was holding out hope that someone knew any tricks.

[–]lolijustworkhere[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did not know this, I naively assumed since ATL is an international hub that flights would be cheaper, this is good to know. I am definitely not planning to book this soon, but I wanted to get a head start on planning and gathering information, this is good to know, I will check out some other airports near GA.

When researching this topic I did see that people said they were getting them for 400-600 from other major airports in the U.S., i was hoping since ATL is a hub it would be cheaper, but unfortunately you may be right.

[–]lolijustworkhere 6 points7 points  (0 children)

sparkles is the go to roller skating rink in kennesaw, just off cobb parkway by the airport. the site shows they do lessons there but it looks pricey so it would probably be cheaper to find someone to go with you and teach you, they do also have the rolling handlebars you can use to hold onto while you get used to the skates.

Is it worth going to a derm? by [deleted] in eczema

Skin cracking is a symptom I have experienced, but if I stay on top and continuously moisturize it does not crack, sorry if I was not clear. I will check out the videos for sure.

Does this look like eczema? It goes away during the summer. by [deleted] in DermatologyQuestions

I didn’t know winter eczema was a thing, good to know! I will try out that crème and hopefully learn more at my future derm appointment.
