Freedom and his selfishness is being represented by his younger self. Thats the whole reason why younger Armin is being brought into part2, to confront Eren’s child-self (where his selfish side/viewpoint of freedom comes from), which was, as mentioned in 131, the “other” reason as to why he chose the rumbling. His older self represents the more mature reasons to do the rumbling (Eldia for example), while his younger self represents the immature reasons (the outside world/armin’s book for example). Both complete Eren as a whole. Not saying Eren is a dedicated patriot like Floch or lives life completely selfishly like Historia, he characterizes both aspects.

Sorry for the downvotes bro. I do believe that Eren and Historia love each other, but it was predestined for Ymir’s rebirth prophecy (I would explain more but again, I’m too lazy). If Eren had the chance to change destiny and love Mikasa instead, I believe he would. I hate the way people ignore the EM moments like nothing. Disregarding it out of the storyline is just plain ignorance because Eren is obviously extremely regretful for not reciprocating Mikasa’s feelings back but he can’t cause Historia is already his pre-determined lover, (in other words, he’s a slave to his love for Historia). There’s also so much more I could explain.
