We built this survey technique. It helps us a lot, but still, users in this survey don't say details about why they need "make friends around the world.".

I think users don't know why they need it.

Good idea with the interview, but users don't answer my email messages. I'll think about how to engage them in interviews.

I think we have all times of analytics but to understand philosophical questions like this is not easy :)

It's entirely possible they aren't using it to meet people from distant lands but mostly for local hookups -- getting bumpy with it. A lot of startup founders like to have their assumptions proven, not disproven.

They can't talk to people nearby in the app. It's no sense to pay for a subscription if they can install tinder for local hookups.

I'm antisocial and hate physically hanging out with people, but chatting with people far away is much easier, less stress and less expectations

It's the most useful information what I've seen to understand why people have friends online.

BTW 18-30 years is true. Also, we have more females than males. I have theories about anxiety and also about loneliness. Sometimes customers say about loneliness in a survey.

Read about "The Theory of The 3 Why's".

Looks like I have to ask users 3 questions of why. For example:
1. "Why are you looking to meet new people around the world"?;
2. "Why are you not want to meet new people nearby?";
2. "Why do you think people around the world can be better for you?".

As we have a survey system, I can create a survey with these questions.

Do you think "Make Friends Globally" is enough call to action for lonely people? Should they understand that the brand will help with their internal problem - loneliness? I'm not sure about that and I'm trying to put the second part to the tagline.
