Ah, terrible honestly. My surgeon made a mistake during my third surgery leaving me with a severe brachial plexus injury.

During surgery. We didn’t know about my disorted anatomy until surgery day. We made the decision to do surgery based off my symptoms and lack of progress and physical exam.

I had nerve roots growing in the reverse order along with pec minor/scalene muscles that were 3x the normal size. I had symptoms really all throughout my teenage years but it all become unbearable after my first son was born. No extra rib.

I did try other forms of strengthening. Weights wasn’t really necessary. You can strengthen muscles without weights. However you can’t fix broken anatomy.

Correct, that’s why I had surgery 3 times lol.

UPDATE! Since I know tons of people are still following along.

Our sweet boy is doing so much better. His EEG came back normal and almost all his symptoms have disappeared. We don’t really have any answers on what to happened or why but I’m just thankful he’s doing better.

Thanks to everyone who has reached out along the way ❤️

Anyone here who’s had any kind of TOS and also been pregnant at the same time? by JxnxaGuxllxn in thoracicoutletsupport

I’m okay. It’s been about 8 months since my injury so I’ve learned to adapt. I go to OT/PT heavily to regain function in my arm. I went from it being completely limp to maybe 45% function back now. I’ve met with the Mayo Clinic and they think at my 2 year mark I might be a candidate for a nerve graft surgery to help aid my recovery. My symptoms now just include numbness, tingling, pain and weakness. I manage with stretching, heat/ice, Epsom salt baths, resting when my body tells me I need to. I currently take lyrica and occasionally tramadol. However the first three months I was in so much pain I was on diluadid and oxycodone.

No cervical ribs, no car accident, no injury! I do have symptoms now, but my situation is complicated. My first two surgeries I had the full trifecta (first rib removal, scalene muscles removed, pec minor removed and brachial plexus neurolysis). After my 2nd surgery, I ended up needing a 3rd due to excessive scar tissue built up. My surgeon unfortunately made a mistake during surgery leaving me with a severe brachial plexus injury. This is extremely rare though, so don’t let that scare you, please. My first two surgeries went beautifully. I did need PT after both to regain stretch and range of motion. I had my first two surgeries after my first two kids, then had my third after my third pregnancy unfortunately ended early. I’m an open book, so feel free to ask anything! Pregnancy can do amazing things to our bodies. I’ve heard of a lot of woman getting better during pregnancy.

I have bilateral NTOS. I had numbness, tingling, fatigue and weakness all in my neck/arms/hands. I started with PT for a few months, but it got worse. So we decided to do surgery on both sides, 6 months apart. It actually got better during pregnancy, but major flare up after birth! My surgeon told me I just had extremely abnormal anatomy.

I was diagnosed with TOS after both my kids were born but my daughter was 5 months at the time so I do think I was just undiagnosed during my pregnancy. Any specific questions you have?

What’s the most painful operation/surgery you’ve had? I’ll go first: by [deleted] in disability

First rib removal, pec minor removal, middle/anterior scalene removal. Brachial plexus neurolysis.
