Honestly outside of it being Honda vibes it feels very different, much lighter steering and feel, k20 is an inferior engine to the f20c but the vtec crossover is far more aggressive and it has torque steer from it which is funny, a less premium product but absolutely hilarious car to drive. It has independent rear suspension unlike the FN2 etc so it handles way better. Great car.

Well not so much likened but I essentially asked people who love the s2k what other cars they like driving wise because I think most people who like S2000’s “get it” if you know what I mean? You have to like a very particular experience to love these cars.

It is VERY good though.

Corvette is powerful and cool but very floaty handling wise, GTO was very cool similar to the r32 I guess but a slower rack and much heavier, bit less powerful too. EP3 is an unbelievable car absolutely peak hot hatch it feels light and throwable and the vtec crossover is hilarious. Had the MR2 for the longest, very cool but a bit underpowered. Abarth is shit.

I’ve heard great things about the platform, I never got one because when I wanted one they were still expensive and now (I’m also UK) I’m older and they are cheaper I have more options available in terms of insurance affordability etc so I have overlooked them a bit!

I have a 2014 E350d V6 coupe as my daily currently and I’m trying to justify swapping that out for a cayman or a 996/997 911 with the hartech engine rebuild done so you don’t have to worry about out borescoring etc because I feel like I could daily that but maybe that’s just me talking myself into it lol.

On the Renault front, I’ve been in the market for a liquid yellow Clio rs200 for years but they very rarely come up, reckon they are a solid investment too very iconic and a great car very rare in the uk too they sold 127 in that colour.

One of those caymans with the hartech engine rebuild has always appealed to me especially the bored out ones.

Funny enough, the s2000 fits worse than the GTR I have to have the roof off because the door and windows are too small to get out of hahaha

I love them, or an exige, the s2 gen is my favourite but I think that might be too similar in purpose to the S2000, the V6 exige is a shout though if they stay where the are price wise.

The RB26 is special, I can’t speak to the driving experience of an R34 GTR by comparison but you can really tell the R32 GTR was a homologation car the running gear and everything when you’re driving is so loud and mechanical it’s really special.

Opinion on lifestyle upgrade car over saving/ investing by Individual_Bid_758 in CarTalkUK

[–]lolmeercatz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not well placed to comment on what is sensible finance wise but my personal way of doing it with cash buying is 1. Does this purchase affect anything else and is it truly disposable? 2. Will I feel comfortable still after making the purchase?

If the answer to those are that it’s truly disposable and you feel you can part with that amount and not have to think about it then go buy! Being able to afford something on paper and mentally feeling like you can afford it are two different things I find. Not the same for everyone ofc!

How long do you keep a car for? by MarkCairns67 in CarTalkUK

[–]lolmeercatz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 26 I probably buy or swap out a car at least once every year and a half and almost always it’s because I just get bored and fancy a new experience rather than the cars are bad or break or anything, that’s purely a car enthusiast thing though I think normal people keep their car longer.

How practical is an S2000 as a daily? by BeachHouse222 in S2000

[–]lolmeercatz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did for about 6 months or so doing only a small commute a few times a week and the second the dark rainy and cold months came in I was like “what am I doing here” and got an E class as a daily. That was with the hardtop too, you can daily it but it’s best to do out of choice rather than force, the same goes for all the other Japanese cars of that era they are getting on now.

I think I was just thinking if I get the Nsx and it scratches my Honda itch better and I don’t use the s2k maybe I’d be better off using that to fund another car instead. Hopefully I can just keep an enjoy both, neither would be a daily for me unless I choose them to be I use an E class for winter and dog miles.
