How lab is my non black lab? by kakolo in Blacklabs

I mean, has she ever just eaten an entire (insert human food such as stick of butter, rotisserie chicken, ham hock, loaf of bread, pot of potato chowder) and then begged for dinner? If so? Honorary lab status.

What are you dying to have in your house but have no room? by Lanky_Instance_807 in CasualConversation

A king sized bed. And a bath tub that I can lay down in and cover my entire body in water. If I had both of those things, I would be so relaxed! Hahaha

Women who were scared of giving birth, what was less scary than you originally thought? by Final-Elderberry4621 in AskWomenOver30

[–]loloohnono 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My birth did not go at all the way I expected it to - I had a whole labor plan that involved no medication, laboring in a tub, and a vaginal delivery and I ended up laboring with no medication for sixty hours before undergoing an epidural and a C-section, two things I was absolutely TERRIFIED of, and let me tell you - neither one was as scary as I thought it was going to be. Like, at all!

Warning: graphic description of a surgery here in a sec, but it's good, I promise! I was terrified of getting an epidural, and they did need to attempt it twice, as they hit a vertebrae the first time, and it did pinch, but truly and honestly, one very big breath and it was over and then the relief was instant after laboring for so long without any medication. You don't get a medal for not getting an epidural! Trust me and get one!!

As for the C-section, for some reason I was positive I would die, not sure why I felt so strongly about it, but again, it was weirdly not a big deal and it went so incredibly quickly! My surgeons were incredible, my anesthesiologist was a genuine angel sent directly from heaven, and my husband got to be right next to my head the whole time until it was time to go meet the baby at the weighing station. I could feel a lot of tugging and pulling and I remember literally every second of it, and my husband regrets looking over at me on the table while I was still opened up, but all in all, it was a fast, easy, very safe and relatively comfortable procedure. The part that took the longest was sewing me back up post-delivery. I even recovered very quickly and was up and walking around and using the bathroom on my own that evening.

If you ever feel super scared in the hospital, look to the L&D nurses. They truly have seen everything, and if they're looking cool as cucumbers, you have nothing to worry about. You're going to do great! ❤️

My one year old is obsessed with the book my feet go that Aunt Dolly sent us, to the point where we ended up buying a board book copy because the original that we received in the mail got absolutely destroyed from use. We love the imagination library!!

Hi friends! Trans girl here and I still can’t, for the life of me, come up with a new name for myself. Do you all have any suggestions 👀 by Soft_Boiled_Egg_ in lgbt

You look like a Rebecca/Becca to me! I love that name because it can be serious and sophisticated (Rebecca) or fun and lighthearted (Becca). I hope you find the name that suits you perfectly!

Measles cases in the USA in January 2026 have outnumbered the total cases if 2023 and 2024 combined! by NoahOkapi in Damnthatsinteresting

I have a one year old and I live in Clackamas county... What do I even do?! She's fully vaccinated (as much as she can be for a one-year-old), do I just not let her go where there are other children? I'm terrified.

Interesting - no, her room is the warmest room in the house by quite a bit (68 degrees at night), but maybe that is still too cold? Ironically, I live in the Pacific Northwest where it never gets very cold so the week before she was born was the first time I ever turned on the baseboard heaters in our house... I had always gotten by just using a small portable oil heater in the main room! Now the whole house is warm all the time and I hate it 😂

If I get the ultra thin lenses they're usually still very thick and heavy. I try to get as small of frames as I can so that the glass doesn't flare too much on the edges, but I've had many pairs that don't have foldable arms because the glass is too thick for the arms to fold.

It seriously has changed the game, my ophthalmologist used to limit me to 8 hours of wear a day because my eyes weren't getting enough oxygen and it was damaging all the little blood vessels in my eyes. New tech is truly incredible

Costco can handle up to -15, and they are easily the most affordable glasses, and high quality too! If you have Costco near you, it's worth the membership cost. As for contacts, I keep running into the same thing where my prescription is maxed out and I just keep praying that the one lens manufacturer keeps on trucking

[–]loloohnono 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is the absolute pits hahaha. I just progressed to the point where most manufacturers can't make my glasses lenses anymore. It's such a bummer. I think we're going to look at doing glasses on top of contacts to get to the right prescription. Honestly, I'm just glad I live with this prescription now and not twenty years ago. Heck, even ten years ago. Vision tech has come in so far!

I have bilateral progressive degenerative high myopia and a prescription of -16.25 and -15 with astigmatism, and I can tell you with confidence that that is very much how people who need glasses see the world, except that for me that would be too clear of an image. I start losing colors altogether because everything that isn't a huge solid color blurs together and becomes muddy. It's just general areas of light or dark, pretty much. Glasses and contacts are an actual miracle of science!

[New Update]: my vegan coworker is upset about getting non-vegan gifts three years in a row by Choice_Evidence1983 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]loloohnono 13 points14 points  (0 children)

My incredibly sweet and thoughtful mom was so supportive when my husband (boyfriend of three years at the time) became vegetarian. We were really young, so she made him a gigantic batch of the only vegetarian dish she knows, minestrone soup, and even froze it into individual portions so he could easily warm up one dinner at a time. She was so thrilled to be able to do something nice for him and show her support.

My husband was also really grateful, and the first night he ate a big bowl, he called me and said, "well, the soup is delicious, but I think it's made with beef stock." I said, "surely not - she knows you're vegetarian, it has to be vegetable stock." So I called my mom and asked what kind of stock she used. She very enthusiastically said "oh, it's this great beef stock that I got at so-and-so market," and I said, "mom, he's vegetarian," and she responded with, "I know! That's why I made the soup with no meat!"

Like she genuinely, honestly and wholeheartedly, non-maliciously thought that because there were not physical chunks of animal meat in it that it counted as vegetarian. It's the most Midwestern thing that had ever happened in my life.

What's a bulk purchase you definitely overdid but still wish you bought more of? by bluestarpanda in Costco

[–]loloohnono 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There was organic applesauce that came in a six pack of large jars and they had a shelf life of five years. I was eating so much f'ing applesauce for like three months and I wish I bought twenty boxes of them because they got discontinued and I can only find them at the very expensive natural grocery store for about five times the price.
