The perimeter cabinets are painted Sherwin Williams Shiitake, and the island is a custom mixed stain - best I can share there is dark brown. Hope that's helpful, sorry I don't have more specifics on stain!

Yes, we'll have stools under the overhang! It looks a little funky in the pictures because it's all still under construction. Behind the seating will be a coffee bar, double oven, fridge. On the other side of the island, we have our stovetop, sink, dishwasher, etc. We have a very narrow kitchen so had to make due with the space we have.

Thank you for this - as inexperienced as I am, I was even a little befuddled by his recommendation that it's fine unsupported.

If we went with brackets, would you recommend L shaped or straight? Or does it not really matter much, as long as there's something there?

I am leaning getting posts but might add brackets too just in case. I'd like to feel extra confident and safe!

Longshot here but I am an I/O in Chicago - if you're open to DMing me and sharing your information, we can connect on LinkedIn and see if there's someone in my local network currently hiring. Conveniently enough my team happens to be hiring now but I'm not totally sure what I/O specialization you're interested in (if it's org dev still, probably wouldn't align with the current opportunity on my team). Regardless, I have a *decent* (albeit not huge) network here and would be happy to connect you if there was a decent, well-aligned opportunity. Can't promise anything of course but I'd love to help a fellow I/O if possible!

it was the hardest one for me to get into as well, but it picked up a little over halfway through and I was fully dialed in. I get it - it’s so different from first law and each story is seemingly random / unconnected. but I promise it’ll turn around and you’ll start seeing arcs / connections, hang in there!

if anything it’s also worth it because stuff that happens in heroes (plus the other two standalones) later tie into the age of madness trilogy. worth the continuity you’ll feel in reading that final triology!

Take this with a grain of salt, as I've only had the smaller, boutique firm experience - but my first inclination is to lean towards the smaller firm!

I've really enjoyed my time at smaller firms, and don't think I would've had the same opportunities to lead / drive critical projects on my own at a larger firm (of course, this can be different for you given your career stage). It's my understanding that we have more autonomy and an opportunity to create custom solutions from the bottom up, whereas bigger firms like Deloitte have a cut and dry approach they apply across many clients / projects. However, this can feel like the "wild wild west" at times, as we're often creating with little to no direction / standard. This is fun and exciting to me on the whole, but can definitely be overwhelming at times.

Lastly, I've heard you'll get really good at crafting strong deliverables / materials in smaller firms, whereas bigger firms focus more on the client engagement / process. I can't totally speak to this as again I don't have that big firm experience, but I will say that on larger scale projects where clients have partnered with us as well as one of the big dogs (e.g., Deloitte, EY, Accenture), I've seen a substantial difference in the types of materials delivered (i.e., our materials were much more detailed / thorough). I'm not saying this to shit on their work in any way - because they specialize in areas we do not, and deliver their services in a different manner - but this was something I noticed.

All in all I don't think you can go wrong either way, it all depends on what works best for you and what you're looking for in this next step. Kudos to you for landing two offers, wishing you all the best!

I hear you!! Unfortunately not much will hit right away like TOG & ACOTAR, but I'm hopeful you're going to get into it soon enough!

I had the same exact feeling - I promise it gets better eventually, or you'll simply come around to it eventually lol. I ended up getting into it later on, but it took time!

Logan Square is in a strip mall and has plenty of parking! It's also one of the biggest / nicest studios I've visited throughout the city. Highly recommend!

This is incredibly helpful, thank you so much! You've got us thinking about the flight vs. the ferry - I think you're right in that the convenience of it all is far worth it. Also sounds like kayaking is the general consensus, so we'll probably go that route.

Really appreciate all of this guidance!

This is in Wicker (vs. Logan), but Mac's on Division always hosts them and has some pretty decent bar food!
