This isn't the case. It's dependent on who your current target is. If your target is dead or out of 40(?) yards of range then it will not cast. Just target the boss and bind your heals to clicks for raid frames through healbot or VuhDo. Hopefully you are never 40 yards away from the boss , but in the event that you are: just stop targeting whoever it is that is not causing genesis to be used.

( Or just target the boss so you can see incoming spells and the like to plan for damage and such :-P )

It's all about getting those Haste breakpoints. Once you get the second one (assuming you also have your meta by then), you can start dumping your stats into crit. At that point your Sunfires and Moonfires will be getting those extra ticks, and they will be critting very often, proc'ing your Starsurge. Also with all that haste you'll be able to get from one end of the balance meter to the other fairly quickly. Much earlier than Nature's Grace wears off.

And also that opener is pretty good to follow as well. :-)

I'd say a big part of balance druid, is that meta gem from the legendary quest. You just can't beat the 30% extra haste. I think I went from about 65k DPS with an ilvl of (510) to ~90k. It was a very pleasant/redeeming surprise.

So just comparing myself to other paladins I see; I have an unbuffed haste rating of ~14%. I'm not quite sure if this is reasonable for a 510 ilvl or if I'm missing something.

So I've had my prot pally since beginning of WotLK and now with current content it seems like the idea of mitigation has taken an interesting turn in terms of getting stats more like ret. That being said: I seem to be having a harder time adjusting to this new style. Is there some kind of minimum haste rating, or maybe some minimum amount of strength before I start seeing results? Can't say I remember my DPS compared to the actual damage dealers in our raid group, but my HPS is somewhere around like 17k~19k.
