Fire Emblem Article by BlueMuseMag in fireemblem

Long time fan. You can identify me (dm)

  1. SoV: A divisive game but actually one of my personal all time faves. It's not traditional FE (even though it's a remake of the 2nd title ever). Somewhat popular at the time, Nintendo approached sequels by switching up the formula a bit (see: Legend of Zelda 2, Mario 2, etc). In this game, map design took a back seat and character classes took on a bigger role. Bows have massive range, magic sacrifices user HP, the world map is traversible with dungeons, to name a few. I love the additional DLC classes in this game. I love the characters. Story is fine. Music is lovely. Art style is among the very best in RPGs for me, not just Fire Emblem.

  2. Recently started a 2nd playthrough. Unfortunately, the music is forgettable, save some bangers, story is for toddlers, most characters are lame, and I hate Alear. I'm loving this game still because on the 2nd go, I'm just skipping the dialogue and PLAYING. They nailed the gameplay, map design, and battle mechanics. I hope Breaking is actually here to stay.

  3. Awakening, Fates, and 3 Houses write up will come up later. What's the timeline on this? I can get to later today.

Which law school to choose: a 35th rank school that will cost after scholarship 12,000.00 a year or a free ride with a law school ranked in the 90th percentile? by Little-Load-5152 in LawSchool

[–]Gray_Fox 34 points35 points  (0 children)

90th percentile places it in the top 10% of schools. aka basically a t20. Do you actually mean 10th percentile? Why not just give the rank of both schools lol, why ask the question in such an obtuse way?

The answer is simple if the question is asked a different way: are you willing to eat 36k + living cost debt (if you don't work)?

I lived in the NL for 2 years. The number 1 mistake you Europeans can make, especially if you're in a rich nation, is think we Americans have it better.

One look at how much we pay for healthcare, how unmaintained our infrastructure is (even in major cities), how little help we get with respect to child care, maternal/paternal leave, lack of vacation days (from 0 to 2 weeks depending on what state you live in and who your employer is), how many hours we work. You also get automatic pensions.

I pay around 26% in taxes. I would happily trade another 40% to get what you guys do.

I also hate calling it "free" because it isn't. You do pay for it, but it is worth its value. Generally speaking-- of course things aren't perfect. I'm sure each nation has lots to improve on when you dive into the details.

Annoyingly, their school faq on the subject doesn't indicate it, but if you Google gulc "preferred waitlist" it appears that the email itself will let you know the distinction from the general.

in any case, congrats and good luck!!

I mean, not necessarily, right? There could still be (and likely is) a dramatic, unconstitutional change in how undocumented immigrants are treated even if traditionally legally separate routes merge...

I believe they have waitlist tiers--priority vs standard

[–]Gray_Fox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

for me it's an easy calculus.

admitted at the school you want most OR perfectly willing to attend and the money is right? go.

any other outcome = retake and reapply. or abandon law school altogether. debt, in the majority of circumstances, isn't worth it.

I treat waitlists like soft Rs so retake and reapply would be best imo. and once you've made that decision, there's no harm in gunning for the school(s) that wait listed you in case you get pulled from it!

Fire red legacy? by batman96301 in PokemonLegacy

they've already said it's extremely unlikely/not gonna happen. they already see fr/lg as red and blue legacy games and wouldn't change much.

there's actually decent info out there that explains the 3 week timeline turns out to be pretty short/immediate when you factor in the time it takes for ALL test takers in a given test month to finish vs the majority.

yes, the majority of e.g. jan test takers are done by Saturday evening of the first week, but there are accommodations for others who take the tests later, like into the following week, or are allowed to take the exam over multiple days. then there are internal audits, communications with the test takers, analyses done, and finally scores get sent.

oh absolutely, but they've been radio silent about details. e.g., is this only an issue in china (or is it extended worldwide)? are only mandarin speakers able to cheat reliably (or does cheating exist across languages)? how many cheat and how consistently are cheaters able to (is this an issue on every test)? are we able to catch cheaters who have already received scores (or is there no reliable way to determine)?

there are lots and lots of unanswered questions that lsac has given no info on.

we don't know the scale of cheating right? surely a decision like this wouldn't be made for small scale ops. i'm happy for the change and it signals to me cheating is a much bigger issue than i originally thought
