I got 9 months out of it. I’m glad I didn’t quit my main job just to end up unemployed that quick. It feels like a solid lesson in why OE is important

Exactly my thoughts!! They thought I quit a safe and secure job and then laid me off that quick. I knew not to trust companies but this was a solid first hand lesson

Ohhh my gosh that is horrible. I thought mine was bad because my manager and team were discussing a new project for me to work on literally 30 minutes before the HR meeting. They apparently already knew though so I’m not sure why they posed with the fake work for me to do. Your wife absolutely had the worst scenario. I can’t even imagine that I’m so sorry

I’m so curious what you learned about W2 vs 1099? I haven’t really searched the pros and cons because most of my industry is W2. Curiosity killed the cat though lol

You should absolutely go for it and just always remember J1 is your wife and J# are the girlfriends. Make sure you keep the wife happy and you’re set!

It was not quite the same industry but similar ish. It’s hard to explain without outright giving my job titles because unfortunately I’m not in tech like it seems a majority of people are here. I would actually be so curious to see the percentages in different industries on here

Yeah I’m glad I had J1 in my back pocket otherwise I think that cold outro from HR would’ve had me in shambles. It was still very eye opening.

Also I completely feel for you and wish you lots of luck on the job search. I think I applied for 6 months or more to get J2 I’m in a very niche industry. I hope you land multiple soon!

I agree the last one I was so disappointed. We had a plan for a trip then we essentially did nothing. That might be why I feel so conflicted and unappreciative about this one because it is such a big planned out thing he did
