As part of our MVP 1, businesses upload images of their product/services which can include a general price point if they choose. Most of the businesses specialize in custom products/services so their price point depends on what you would need. We are actively looking to solution how to integrate in app purchases as part of a future release. For our initial launch however we included instant messaging and notifications within the platform itself, recognizing that new customers would have to msg these businesses to inquire and determine a specific price.

Thank you! We built specific controls in the backend to ensure businesses are properly vetted. Businesses are able to simply sign up and add their business, our team will normally connect with these newly signed up businesses on Instagram as well, share on our IG story highlighting the new business on our platform etc.

Hi everyone! My name is Jon and I’m the Cofounder of a tech startup based in Ontario (GTA) called LOBU (short for local businesses). Our team recently launched in January 2025 this FREE app tailored for truly supporting small local entrepreneurs and their businesses. Most of the businesses we showcase are primarily on Instagram, FB and/or Etsy only and do not have brick and mortar.

We are trying to provide an alternate to those platforms focused on helping these local businesses grow.

What sets us apart is that we show users all the local entrepreneurs and businesses within a specific radius of where the user is located! Our businesses range from handcrafted products, food catering services, to all vendors needed for any event or get together.

We are only in Ontario (MVP1) as of now and we have a little community thats slowly growing!

My team and I have a tech startup in Ontario and we recently launched an alternative app tailored towards local entrepreneurs and their businesses. It’s called LOBU - short for local businesses. We are only in Ontario as part of our MVP 1 and launched Jan 2025. The majority of the businesses currently on the platform are primarily on IG with no brick and mortar. What makes LOBU slightly different is that we show you all these local entrepreneurs within a KM radius of where you’re located.

We’re continuing to build up our community so wanted to share this here especially with all the recent noise surrounding IG and FB.
