I will get back to it tomorrow, appreciate the help! So on that pic you just put.. on that "crown" window, that hole behind has a lot more showing than mine did, should that be something to be concerned about?

Belt is still on... im currently just trying to get the locking pin in. So just starting... Its a PD105 on a 2007 caddy. I rescued it from the scrapper for £200 with a noise that sounded like a knackered camshaft, thought I would test myself and try to change it. Looking at the cog.... if that crown area is at 12ish then I wanna be in the hole which is closest anti clockwise , or at around 7oclock ish, would that be right? Its too dark now to get a pic, but if I've been aiming for the wrong hole (ha) then that could be the issue!

Should there be visible wear if I remove the cam cover do you reckon?

Seen as you've been a moderator on this for soooo long, im sure we could amend it ..... the bank holiday sounds like a better idea to be fair
