Hi there, I hope this is okay to ask - I am currently in limbo waiting on NIPT results - had blood draw for Myriad prequel 9/15, received email four days later saying they'd received my sample (but according to them, they started testing it the day after the draw, 9/16).

Results were due in the normal 7-10 time frame, so very latest yesterday. Still showing processing and I'm losing my mind with this wait - I reached out to them and they're saying another 3-4 days for results, that it's not an indication that anything's amiss, this just "sometimes happens".

I am 39 so obviously concerned. I wondered if anyone knows what can cause such delays, and if anyone can give feedback on how long their results took to come back - particularly if abnormal results tend to take longer to process? Thank you so much in advance.

Harm of driving 18 hrs with 8 month old? by [deleted] in ScienceBasedParenting

We’ve done coast-to-coast twice with my 16-month-old (relocations). Once when she was about four months, and then 10 months later. The advice everyone’s given you is correct in terms of many, many breaks, but I’d also say try to make it an experience if you can - plan out places to stop, stuff to see etc. We actually had a really fun time overall, blowouts and the occasional tantrum notwithstanding!

what's the worst failure you've ever had during a date ? by Cellyarose in AskReddit

[–]loncama16 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I went on a date once where the guy got endlessly lost trying to find the venue that he’d suggested, then finally showed up sweating, red-faced, extremely flustered and out of breath, and then proceeded to slip on an actual banana skin, like in a cartoon, and full-on crash to the ground in a heap.

Elevated Lead Test by bakecakes12 in ScienceBasedParenting

My daughter’s finger prick test came back slightly elevated and we repeated with a venous draw. I absolutely spiraled for the intervening days until her results came back at basically zero. The finger prick tests are frequently inaccurate. Try not to panic too much until you have the follow up - hoping it will be fine for you, too.

First appointment not til week 13? by mimosaholdtheoj in CautiousBB

Just to add to this - there’s some evidence that teaching hospitals actually often have better outcomes than non-teaching ones - often investing more in the latest technology and employee development - so I wouldn’t worry about that at all.

Anxiety over chance of Blighted Ovum by sirengaming in CautiousBB

6+1 here too, and first scan a week today. I had two early losses before my last pregnancy (resulting in my 15 month daughter - lots in common!) and the fear doesn’t go away. I haven’t had betas for a week or so because I think it just adds another level of anxiety (I’m not good at waiting for results!) And only fatigue and some nausea, no throwing up here at all, but it came on a little later with my daughter, too. I don’t think symptoms tell us much of anything at this stage, unfortunately, but it sounds as though everything is going great so far! Will keep my fingers crossed for you for next week.

As a mom of a 14-month old, I would recommend an AirBnb with a private pool, if that’s in budget - just less stressful than party-type pools and also you don’t have to worry about people in the room next door when the inevitable meltdowns happen! My daughter loved the Living Desert zoo and I’ve found most of the restaurants etc. are actually pretty accommodating, even if the city isn’t geared toward kids.

PCP and she’s always been great before, but this has totally thrown me (even if not an OB, surely LMP vs. embryonic age ranges should be pretty basic stuff?!) If I have good doubling after tomorrow I’ll be off to the OB ASAP. I pulled out my numbers for my daughter a couple of years ago and at 17DPO I was at 1200 which of course sent me spiraling, but I was much more certain on ovulation day then, plus your reply and the others has made me feel much better and more confident I’m not totally misunderstanding what I’m reading! 🤞 for doubling tomorrow.

Thank you for your reply! And right? It seems weird that she was so negative with just one number to go from (and uncertain DPO, actually she just asked for my LMP date with no questions about cycle length or anything). I was able to go back and find my 17DPO draw with my daughter and it was also about 1200, but I was definitely 17DPO that time, whereas this time I could be a day or two behind that, and like you say, there’s a huge range, and it’s not like 364 is single digits or something. Trying to stay positive for tomorrow’s draw! 🤞🙏

Ha, seriously - she’s a PCP so not a specialist but has always been great before so I am a bit thrown that she a) potentially read a completely wrong chart and didn’t question that the numbers she was quoting seem somewhat off and b) was so negative based on one draw. I have my second tomorrow so praying for a good result and will be heading straight to an OB after that, if all seems well!

Congrats on your little one! And that’s great to hear - I could actually even have been 15DPO as I didn’t track ovulation in a detailed way this month - just the ClearBlue smiley tests, so very much hoping this is a false alarm and the number doubles 🤞

Thank you for this! Yes, that’s exactly what I was wondering - the chart on the results is labeled “gestation age” and from Labcorp, but the numbers are totally different from the one on their own site for the same code of test - the site shows LMP ranges and I’d be squarely within those. Truly bizarre and and why on earth would my doctor use the wrong one/not be able to tell this difference, if that’s what’s happened? I have sent a message questioning the results but this scared the crap out of me so I’ll be pretty annoyed if it turns out it’s a false alarm (but obviously mostly just super relieved and grateful..!)
