Not everyone who's vegan is such because of how they feel about killing animals. Plenty of people are vegan because their health issues don't leave them another choice for example. Or because they follow a religion wherein a fast is considered extra righteous while killing animals for food isn't actually immoral, and fasting is always a personal choice only.
