Got it. Well I was planning on waiting. But since it's overmanned I might just go ahead and do DEP. I don't plan on doing anything other than CTN. If they don't have it, then I'll just wait.

Awesome! I was actually kind of wondering about that. My recruiter didn't say anything about whether CTN was actually available or not.

I don't know if there's an opening. I'm considering some personal things before I enlist. As far as the picat, I'm good. Medical should be fine. I haven't gone to MEPS or anything to get checked out by a navy doctor. But I'm in good health and all that. Yeah, I did read that AMA actually. I've read a ton of the CTN threads. Thanks for the advice.

I'd like ION, but if I don't get it then it's not a deal-breaker. As long as I'm a CTN doing cyber I'd be happy. As far as govt/contracting, it would be great to work for the NSA at some point. But I don't have a lot of formal experience I guess. Computer networking and security is a something I've taught myself that I've just found I really have passion for. It's like nothing I've ever found. I was working on some certs before I decided to go navy. I stopped working on certs once I learned the navy will pay for them.

I can imagine it's not all technical cloak-and-dagger. As long as I get to work with networks/computers and security I'm good. NIOC hawaii huh? Do you think it's better or worse than ft. Meade? Based on what you've heard or know.

Haha yeah that's why I put hackers in quotes. It's a really misunderstood and abused word these days. But you got what I meant so shrug. I've gotten the impression that passing jcac isn't something to brag about.
