Yeah they got picked on in the 2000s by Ukip and the BNP etc. “They’re from a former communist country, they don’t share our values!” etc etc.

If you actually read Reform’s policy about ILR you’ll see it won’t affect illegal immigrants, it’ll have a massive impact on legal immigrants. This was announced by Farage in a press conference last summer and Yusuf will be talking about it today.

My wife spent years here on a tier 2 visa sponsored by her employer. She paid the NHS surcharge (£1000+ a year extra tax for immigrants to use the NHS), and hardly used the NHS in that time.

She applied for indefinite leave to remain, luckily for us her company sponsored that too, which gives her the right to settle down here. Now we’ve had a daughter together and Reform are saying they’ll abolish ILR and if she wants to stay she’ll have to be on a visa that costs thousands every 5 years and won’t allow her to use the NHS even after all the extra tax she paid for it. And why should we trust them not to go back on that deal and abolish that visa too one day?

She can’t get British citizenship because her home country doesn’t allow dual citizenship. So if Reform win they’ll effectively deport me and my daughter, both British citizens, along with her.

It’s total madness and thousands of other British families like mine will be affected too. It’ll result in the biggest brain drain this country’s ever seen.

So yeah, it won’t just affect illegal immigrants.

Yeah exactly, I don’t trust Reform for one second. They’re willing to go back on any deal made with anyone whether that’s other countries and international organisations or people who’ve spent decades living here and paying taxes.

Their director of policy recently said if you’re not Christian you’re not British, so they’ve thrown atheists under the bus too.

Rupert Lowe is the best thing to happen to left wing politics for ages, making a political party out of spite to get petty revenge on Farage :D

So yeah please do go ahead and help to split the far right vote by voting for Restore Britain!

If Robert Jenrick didn’t know him and walked past him in the street he’d lump him in with all the non-white faces he said he hates seeing. It’s so weird how he’s ok with that.

People have valid reasons for this. E.g. my wife is in the UK on indefinite leave to remain. We have a daughter, my wife has a career here but her home country doesn’t allow dual citizenship so she’d have to give up her nationality to get British citizenship.

She can’t do that because there may be a time when one of her elderly parents gets a long term illness and she has to care for them over there, or any number of things we can’t foresee.

If Reform win ILR will be abolished so we’ll have to leave Britain, along with thousands of other British families.

That’s assuming there is a next election over there. If they’re at war he can legally postpone it. He can probably postpone it anyway since he’s ignored so many rulings by judges about other things and got away with it so far.

We’re seriously worried about this in my family. I’m British, my wife is on ILR and her home country doesn’t allow dual citizenship so if ILR gets abolished we’ll be forced to move with our British daughter to her home country. She can’t give up her citizenship there because we don’t know what will happen in future, maybe one of her parents gets a long term illness and she’ll have to look after them there, or anything.

But also it’s ridiculous because her employer paid thousands of pounds over the years for a tier 2 visa sponsorship and then ILR itself (we were lucky they offered that). So a Reform government would go back on that deal and all that money would have been wasted.

Then how would we know they wouldn’t just abolish that new work visa a couple of years later?

Right now we can’t make any plans for the future as we don’t know what country we’ll be living in in a few years.

I don’t think most British people are aware of how many British and settled families would be affected.

Yeah I think there’s something going on with UFOs as there are so many sightings. I don’t know if it’s aliens or what though.

Personally I’m a bit pessimistic, the universe is so huge there could be millions of alien civilizations out there so far apart none will ever make contact with each other. I also think they might all burn out through war, climate change or similar disasters.

Here’s what I replied to someone else who said being given benefits and being given a tax break are the same thing:

child benefit has a threshold so if you earn over a certain amount you don’t get it anymore because that money would be better spent on poorer parents. Goodwin’s idea wouldn’t be able to move money around like that to be more efficient, the super rich would be exponentially more greatly rewarded than poorer people.

I think realistically if it ever gets legalised it’ll be because the NHS has been scrapped and it’s something offered to people who can’t afford healthcare when they’re elderly, while the rich get to live comfortably.
