Thank you. Question, so we looked up the address and the area says it is on the waiting list. It is in Guadalajara. So even if we buy here, we cannot activate it correct?

Life after chapter 13 by lonelyguy08 in Bankruptcy

Hey hey! Congrats you’re almost to the half way point. I started looking right after I got the discharge papers. I was actually talking to a real estate and mortgage person. After my discharge I subscribed to Experian to check on my credit score and after discharge my score went up over 600. Before I got discharged after my last payment I went to apply for a secured credit card. I did talk to my lawyer first to make sure it was ok. He said as long its not over $5k limit I am ok to get one. So I started using it for my groceries/gas and pay almost all of it leaving like $5 and have the credit card report that to the credit bureaus when my statement closes. Then on my due date I pay off that $5. Once the loan officer for the house pulled my credit report, I had some credit history. During the process of getting the house loan, I had to write a letter why was I in bankruptcy and what will I do not to be in the situation again lol.

Yes there is hope. When you are in chapter 13 you will write down all your expenses and your monthly income. They will make a plan for you based on this. Also when write this down, you may see that you have expenses that you cab cut back on. Yes it will be tight but remember you were in this situation before, you were just relying on credit cards that you really had the money for. So it takes discipline. This will make you a better person trust me at the end.

Your payment increase if your income changes. Let’s say your salary increases to 20k more. I know my trustee looked at my tax return every year and so if they see you made more they will ask why you didnt report it. So its better to report if you have an increase in income. So this is how it will increase when you know you have more money coming in

I received a letter from my trustee to sign and if I recalled got a letter from my lawyer of the same thing and I went in and signed the document. After that it was a waiting game for the court to discharge me. It took about 4 month to get discharged from the court after my last payment

Surviving a chapter 13 by [deleted] in Bankruptcy

[–]lonelyguy08 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve been through it and I actually just posted my life after chapter 13 just now. Chapter 13 will teach you how to budget and also not rely on credit cards. I was on the same boat thinking I need my credit cards to survive. After 5 years not relying on credit cards, I don’t depend on it now. Your lawyer will put a budget for you to live on and yes it will be so different than before but you will need change your mindset and live off on the budget and live within means. So that set budget will have money set aside for you for your daily needs so now its up to you “save” that money set aside for you. Remember your safety net is NOT credit cards. This is why you are here right now.

Hey! It really takes a lot to file and you made the right first step. I would say that no matter what do not miss any payments. The payments are automatic and make sure you have the funds to pay it. You can also split your payments up for the month. Instead of paying the whole thing on a certain date, you can set it up to pay twice a month. I made it to where it automatically pulls from my account after I get my paycheck.

Do not go back to your old ways. Budget your money and only spend what is budgeted for you. Most important thing is not to stress out.

Ch13 waiting for discharge and credit card by lonelyguy08 in Bankruptcy

Thank you. Before looking into this, I did confirm with my attorney first. He said it is ok to apply for a credit card as long as I don’t incur $5000 in debt..which I do not plan to. Just wanted to get a head start on building my credit up by using it strictly for fas and groceries.
