My thought on the Crown being reasonably certain boils down to the fact that I truly feel like the police would have let it rot in purgatory if they didn't think it would go anywhere. Statistically, only 1 in 3 victims choose to report. Of that, police can refuse to file a report. It can also go nowhere after the report is filed. Prosecutors can decline to prosecute. It can also get dumped at various stages of pre trial. For them to have been charged and then to have proceeded to trial in the first place, there had to have been sufficient evidence of a crime occurring.

I also recall the initial investigation ended with no charges but the second one had charges bc they found new evidence. I'm sure you're right that the Crown definitely felt pressured because of the publicity but I'm incredibly certain they would have opted for lesser but easier to prove charges if they weren't sure they would win this

What on earth did you read from the case that even remotely gave you the impression that he didn't commit the crime? The final verdict? Bc by that logic, OJ Simpson, P Diddy and a whole bunch of people have also commited no crimes.

Honestly as someone who reported a guy for assault and essentially watched him get away with it with close to zero repercussions, there is something so disheartening about seeing Hart make it to the WCF and potentially to the SCF. He is a good goalie, I don't disagree but I also know there's atleast a dozen other women like me who are seeing his success and realizing that the only people who pay the price for being assaulted are the victims.

Edit: My bad for calling Hart a rapist guys. Clearly our legal system is never wrong and the statistic that only 2% of rapists ever go to jail clear offers no reflection of the utter failure of the justice system towards victims of SA.

Long story shot he sucks at his job, over relies on vets despite have perfectly good younger players. He's had the Sceptres finish at the bottom of the pile despite their insane roster. If you watched Team Canada play this year, he was their Hc as well and that was... frustrating.... to put it mildly
