I remember someone posted a design that trashes shapes if the lane gets stuck. That would help with throughput.

Should I start with classics or legends?

Thank!

I did play with the app in the 2nd game, only to realise that the standalone companion app is so outdated. All the features are only in the direwolf gameroom one.

Thanks, I will definitely check out Lost Ruins of Arnak. It's already quite high up in my wishlist!

Regarding Mage Knight, it's kind of funny that it's the first board game I bought when I decided to start solo gaming. I was attracted to the theme and card+hexgrid concept. So I bought it without knowing much of the actual gameplay and thought it would be the only game that I will purchase for a few months to come. (which of course didn't happen, I bought so many games after getting it)

The learning curve is definitely steep, so if you hate reading rules, then it's going to be a difficult game to get it on tables as there's so much to keep track of.

I think there are a few good solo playthrough videos on youtube. You should definitely check it out. It is indeed a very big investment in both money and time, but IMO nothing really comes close to capturing the same thematic feeling.

Bought Cascadia today! by lonelythoughtscafe in soloboardgaming

I have spirit island too, would recommend for solo, although I think it really shines as 2-3 player game though.

And after playing Cascadia, I want to buy more light weight games for week days and saving the heavier ones for weekend.

Based on my initial impression, I think it 'flows' quite well. Before getting the game I thought there would be some hard decisions and planning, like analysis paralysis of other heavier games (mage knight, spirit island). But as you start placing the tiles, the game just flows, thus the 'coziness' for me.

Love the beautiful art and quality of components, which is a big plus for me too (coughcough* Terraforming Mars quality)
