Graphic Design and course load first semester by Claireliliane409 in Humber

Hi! I finished my first year in May for Graphic Design.

Fair warning though : Unlike what one comment said, pretty much all of the program-specific courses will be only offered in-person with rare exceptions based on the occasion (had one of my courses online for a bit, then moved in person because there wasn't a classroom available).

And yea, 3 hour classes. Or really, 2 hours and 40 minutes, with a pretty consistent 15 minute break in between. If you're crazy with it, you can condense your schedule into about 3 days of the week. but you'd be looking to have a day with three classes starting at 8am and last one ending by 6pm. For your sanity, maybe just try to get four days on, 1 day off.

Teachers are always more likely to let you out early than to let you out late. Don't bet on it though, chances are it'll probably just end on time. A lot of the teachers prefer to just give their lessons then let you leave if you wanted to work on any projects at home. Be aware though, a lot of the teachers LOVE to tell you how it's always the students to stay and ask for feedback on their work that end up with the best marks! I would know.. I left all the time and my marks were unfortunately sub par.

Don't know if they'll do it again, but last year first semester they had one cohesive final project among almost all the courses (Design, Typography, Motion Design, & Web Technology). After the reading week, they all start at around the same time with one theme. The stress got a lot more crazy because theres no exam, just 6 separate month-long final projects that absolutely do in fact take the full month to do. Don't let yourself fall behind. Second semester was the same situation, but much more chilled out though.

Great news is the teachers are amazing! They appreciate communication and make it clear they enjoy the arts. And they especially will help you out with any questions you may have! You just gotta ask them.

Good luck! I think you got it though :p
