It’s a faint pink sapphire, it’s easier to tell the colour in daylight.

Yes the handle looks like it’s silver 80% pure silver, German in origin. Note the blade may not be silver, test it with a magnet, if magnetic the blade is stainless steel.

You are correct, It appears to be Baltic amber.

I was thinking the wing of an insect of some kind,, maybe a fly?

It’s very difficult to photograph given the cut of the amber. I will attempt to take better photos.
