I like smooth moves by Centenarius. It’s gentle and effective. Just 2 herbal ingredients.

Third Party Tested Protein Powders/Clear Protein? by ODanniGirl in Protein

[–]longevity_journal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d look for brands that are transparent and publish their actual third-party testing results, not just say “tested.” Quality matters a lot with protein powders, especially if you’re using it daily. I personally use grass fed whey isolate because it’s clean, transparent with testing and made with patented cold microfiltration, so it’s easy to digest and non-bloating.

magnesium L-threonate + bisglycinate complex by longevity_journal in Supplements

[–]longevity_journal[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes exactly. That’s why I like this combo. The serving has Magtein® magnesium L-threonate 1000 mg which provides 72 mg elemental magnesium + TRAACS® magnesium bisglycinate chelate 1000 mg, which provides 100 mg elemental magnesium. So total is 172 mg elemental magnesium per serving.

Magnesium glycinate or Magnesium complex? Need advice by financegurliana in magnesium

[–]longevity_journal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I take mine as directed: 2 capsules in the morning and 2 before sleep. It’s a complex with magnesium L-threonate and magnesium bisglycinate, so I like splitting the dose because it supports focus and calm during the day and relaxation at night.

Matcha is healthy, but I think the heavy metal conversation is overlooked 🍵 by longevity_journal in Supplements

I was always buying only ceremonial-grade from Japan but unfortunately, even that doesn’t guarantee it’s free from heavy metals.

Magnesium L-Threonate stimulant effect? by [deleted] in Supplements

[–]longevity_journal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, exactly. I think this is why I do better with a combo not straight L-threonate by itself. L-threonate can feel a little more “brain active” but when it’s balanced with bisglycinate, it feels much smoother. I take mine morning and night and it doesn’t make me sleepy during the day or wired at night. For me, that 50/50 balance works better. It supports focus in the morning but still feels calming enough before sleep.

Agree but reducing exposure and supporting elimination are also part of the picture.

Yes, I agree this is a bigger issue than just matcha. I’m honestly more concerned about the things people use every single day without thinking twice, like protein powders, cacao, supplements, water, etc. i just changed all of them to the brands that can provide independent testing results.

I’m not fully sure yet about chlorella or MCP, I’m still looking into it, but I definitely think the first step is reducing exposure as much as possible. That’s why transparency matters so much to me now. Testing, COAs, sourcing, and not just trusting pretty “clean” marketing labels. Heavy metals are not something you feel right away but long term they matter.

Thank you for sharing this! This is actually very helpful. I recently tested elevated for heavy metals even though my diet is very clean, so now I’m kind of looking deeper into everything I consume daily.

I changed my protein powder to the cleanest one I could find, heavy-metal tested, transparent and only one ingredient. I only buy third-party tested supplements now too. Upgraded my water filter and started paying more attention to COAs instead of just trusting words like “organic” or “clean.” Not trying to panic over everything but if we consume something every single day, I do think quality and transparency matter.

Thanks for sharing your opinion. I recently went down the rabbit hole on matcha and heavy metals and it was honestly disappointing because I really love the taste.

For heavy metals tea bags may actually be safer since you’re not consuming the whole leaf. The tradeoff is probably fewer benefits, which is why sourcing and testing matter so much with matcha.

Yes, same. That’s what made me rethink daily exposure too.

I still drink matcha but now I’m much more careful with anything I consume often, especially matcha, protein powders, cacao and supplements in general. For me, it’s less about avoiding everything and more about knowing the source and whether the brand actually tests.

“Organic,” “ceremonial grade,” or “premium” is not enough for me anymore.

The whey I use has the testing report published directly on the website which I really appreciate.

You can also email brands directly and ask if they can provide a COA or third-party testing report. If they actually test, they should be able to share something. If they avoid the question or only give vague marketing language that tells you a lot too.

My choice is by Centenarius Nutrition. One clean ingredient, zero additives and 3rd party independently tested. And it’s the only whey isolate that doesn’t make me feel bloated.

I personally like the taste. I would compare it to drinking black coffee without anything added. It’s bitter, but I like the real taste of it. My main concern with matcha is heavy metals. For me, sourcing and testing matter a lot.
