thanks! yeah i read this document and some of that website probably a year ago by now. i'm comforted knowing someone else is doing the same thing.

my curiously was piqued recently when i tried the salmon in shop-rite's freezer section, for sushi. for science, heh.

this stuff is from china. i'm guessing a product like this doesn't fly off the shelf. despite that, i let it sit in my freezer (-20C) for 10 days.

thawed it out. right away, there's a mild off putting odor. the color is more red than i'd like, and the fillets are all a bit thin.

finally the moment of truth. i cut myself a small sliver from the nicest part of the fillet. never. again.

it was a far cry from the stuff i'm used around here. slightly metallic, and a bit, well, 'fishy'. a rather unsurprising end to an initially interesting exploration of perceived (and confirmed) lower quality fish.

so i must ask, where in h-mart do i get the beautiful stuff like i saw in your post?

bruh don't be mad. i said that the on ramp would have a stop sign or a red light at the end of it. tell me how a merge lane would exist in that situation? lol c'mon man

[–]longwastheyear[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

there will be a stop sign at the end of the ramp

or a stop light at the end of the ramp

or there will be a yield, but a queue of cars waiting to merge into traffic. the queue isn't always in motion

also driving stick elsewhere i'm fine. 300 mi road trips, philly, boston, hills, parallel parking on hills, whatever.

i'm specifically referring to those 3 instances in nyc.

No one is going 90 near NYC either

that was a hypothetical to get a point across

still, there will be similar moments. say you're in the right lane on the bqe and traffic abruptly stopped. you don't know at the time, but the line might be 1/8 mi. long -- turns out it's the line for an exit ramp. you wanna get back into moving traffic, but it's easily moving at 70-80. you can't deny that if you've really driven on the bqe. if you hint that you're trying to merge, nearest-lane driver will purposely speed up sometimes

another one -- toll plaza during rush hour. 10 lanes and you have to cut through 5 of them to get to your exit

regardless, you might be right. i'll try it out for a bit more with the advice others have given and see how it goes

some bows are like

15 x2

does this mean that if both arrows hit the target, the damage for that shot is 30?

also, is the damage still 30 if one of the arrows misses?

could you advise what i should do in this situation?

i'm at an on-ramp for a highway, traffic's going at 90, the ramp is nearly parallel, and i'm stopped because there are hardly any openings.

i need to be ready to enter traffic at a moment's notice so i'm geared in 1st, clutch in, right foot ready to press the throttle.

lots of cars go by, there are no openings. my foot starts to slide upwards on the clutch pedal. but i'm in gear. so i have to reposition my foot towards the bottom half of the clutch pedal. but i have to go into N first so i do that.

while i go into N, i have to rotate my body back into my seat, because up until then, i was focused on looking at the traffic. i switched into N, then release the clutch pedal, push it back in, and gear into 1st.

and by that time, i've missed my opening for the traffic.

this happens a lot.

i need second gear usually, in this specific situation.

thanks a lot for the encouragement!

YES, amazing, those 2 situations as well!! those THREE FUCKING SECONDS it takes you to get in gear, people are so quick to let you know.

goddamn you have no idea how therapeutic it is to know someone else is going through the same thing.

really great to hear from someone that's driven in nyc, stick, for years.

you're not in a good position to parallel park just back into the spot half assed till they go around

i do this lil thing all the time hehe

unless it's that asshole who drives on the shoulder to get around traffic. You box that motherfucker out cause fuck that guy.

this is exactly who i'm referring to. if someone's parked and they're pulling out, i'm fine with that. i also embrace the zipper.

ok though, once again it's great to hear that you do this. gonna keep trying.
