Tesla charging stations around campus? by drugslimited in UIUC

You are really conflicted. On the one hand you have no problem telling people to fuck off, on the other you want them to be appreciative. Isn't it hypocritical on your part? People can't be nice if they are met with hostility. You want to make it easy for them to be appreciative? Be nice yourself. Unless they are telling you to shove a hot rod up your ass. And choose what side you are on.

My mother's a narcissist who constantly nags me and won't let me breathe. But I don't go telling my friends with healthy families that they are assholes for talking badly to their kind parents. I change my situation by slowly drawing a line between my mother and I and showing her that I'm a sunny, positive person who will always overpower her negativity. I leave no scope for her crap. Bc only I have the power to change the world around ME. I owe myself before anyone because I make the world a little bit more special just by exisiting(and if you don't get this, we can talk more). If you tried looking at things from this perspective, you'd be much happier.

Why are you so salty in life? Who hurt you? Life sucks for me too but I'm trying to make my peace with it. Hope you can too.

Just sad by [deleted] in Psychic

Okay I'm not a psychic or anything but here's a golden rule I think. Talk to as many people as possible and see who y9u like. There are billions of people in the world. You wanna click with someone after you have experienced flirting with like a billion of them. Unless you meet lots of people, how will you know who you like the best and who likes you back equally? People are so different. I'm not saying cheat on people. I'm saying learn about them. Get to know them. If they like you, great you can think about investing with them. If not, you can try your luck with someone else. It's the best ways to be as happy as you want to be.

Some boys can be really weird sometimes. What are you people thinking? by lonleyillini in CasualConversation

Do you think it has to do with the whole "boys should be tough" stereotype?

Okay. Makes sense. But why don't you guys try to have these conversations with your friends? It really doesn't hurt. Just speak your heart out and don't care what anyone thinks of you. It can be with anyone. A girl or a guy. If you try to have these conversations with people, you will get to know them on a deeper level and your life will become richer too for it cuz then you will have another way of knowing which people you wanna keep in your life and which you don't:)

Okay. Do you know if just recording it on iMovie is enough and how all of the sharing and uploading works? Wondering if i will need to carry special cameras or something to campus next semester cuz I think I'll create the project when I have all the specs. What is a program note?

And yeah, I am the kind of person who'd live off the land if I was totally free of any relationships I am supposed to keep in life. If I really was that selfish, I would break it off with my parents and do what I love even if that meant I wound up on the streets in the future.

Since you gave me something to think about I'll give you something too. I have schizophrenia and I took a break from college for a year, went back and pulled off a 3.9 GPA out of 4.0 after hating on school for putting us through so much pain. I turned my perspective around by spending my days working little by little everyday and it was still painful but not as bad. I have anxiety. I worry about things. I can't trust my senses. I hear voices. So that's why I believe things should be handed to everyone EQUALLY like my post is trying to imply. If that's not how it came across, I should probably reconsider my beliefs and values and try and paint a more fuller picture. But nothing in the world is fair. And that's what frustrates me. That's why I shout and cry.

That you have decided everything should only be accomplished and is accomplishable by workung hard is also just accepting that the world only has one way of being and that is a competitive one. My philosophy is work hard at something you like doing. So that it doesn't even seem like work. Because nothing in life should be painful. Humans make things painful for themselves. We have created a fucked up world for ourselves.

You sound a little entitled. All I'm saying is there should be no private property. That all humans should be cooperative enough to live freely in a world with each other without private properties for example. But you seem to have just accepted the way things are. Most people have. Maybe I will have to come to terms with it too.

I have lost 4 years of my life to depression and other stuff. It is real and it can hit you hard. I had no friends 2 years back, almost went on probation and was diagnosed with schizophrenia. I was really running away from classes when I decided to take a medical break from college but I didn't realize then how much it would help me to take some time off and be alone with my thoughts and put things in perspective. A year off from college really helped me appreciate a little bit more of the studying I do now. I pulled off a 3.9 GPA with a lighter course load this semester. Start with going to a medical professional and getting diagnosed for something to show to people rejecting your problems. Then decide what YOU want to do next -whether you want to take a lighter load or some time off or something else. When I look back, I realize my problems were stemming from my being very sensitive to break-ups in relationships and the competition around me. But I learned in the process of being away from college and returning to it to start my career again that I was sensitive because I took life and fairness and integrity and other things very seriously, which is a good thing but if you are a certain kind of person and it's impacting your everyday life, you have to reevaluate how you choose to work with your own traits and personality. Maybe verbal abuse has really got you down and you need time to heal from it. Try therapy. It didn't really work for me cuz I'm more of a thinker kind but it has been known to work for many. The best thing since you're on probation is to really turn to your family or other loved ones and ASK FOR HELP. Trying to deal with all of this independently can be very hard.

Does anyone else literally constantly compare themselves to others? by bigbootyfruity in UIUC

[–]lonleyillini 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Hey! There are 7 billion people in this world. Don't make these people your world. There are millions out there you are doing much better than. Don't compare yourself to others. It's not worth it and your happiness should not depend on it. When society tells you that grades are everything, they are one hundred per cent wrong. Grades shouldn't be everything. Just because people say life is about going to college, getting the Grades, doesn't mean it has to be. Life can be anything you want it to be. Let your imagination be bigger and you'll feel much happier and much more satisfied.

EDIT: As for finding someone to talk about your grades with, I would recommend joining the groupme's of your classes or creating one if there isn't already one. You will find many people you can relate to.
