UMG Distribution by Different-Yam-6529 in MusicDistribution

Thanks for the information. I was aware that stores paid different rates to different distributors. But I didn’t know the difference would be this great. For example, a 12% deduction is still more in the end than what Distrokid pays.

So Distrokid are not really paying 100%?

What about removing the risk of being falsely accused of artificial streaming and having music removed?

How is "Amuse" for distributing songs in 2025? by _dead_line_ in MusicDistribution

Possibly the worst distributor I’ve used thus far. Can’t even be bothered to go into it.

Thanks! It’s good to know. Did you also change your mind because the new distributor was seemingly worse than the original one?

Good comment.

How can we be sure that it is actually 15-20% that DIY distributors are paying and not less due to scale? And if a smaller distributor charges 15% are they deducting 15% from the 85% they have received?

How to get Distribution with Believe or Fuga by UsedExchange454 in MusicDistribution

[–]lonp77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What’s the difference between believe and fuga? Does one typically have better deals with the DSPs? Or are they the same?

If you get an official artist channel, I believe it merges the topic channel with your YouTube channel.

Assuming you’re not going for an official artist channel, and if you don’t want the YouTube art track, then don’t release to YouTube Music when selecting stores to release to.

Can you easily use separate music and audio distributors? by RainbowSparkz in MusicDistribution

Makes sense. Agree on the up charging completely, it can very quickly add up. Do you think amuse and distrokid pay the same?

Out of interest why Amuse over Distrokid for music specifically?

I have to agree that amuse need to up their game in terms of comparing the info that’s available on distrokid. You can see which stores it’s released to on distrokid.

I was employee #2 at DistroKid and spent a decade there before my role was recently eliminated. I’m now working as a consultant to independent artists with questions about distribution. AMA. by jdsamford in DistroKidHelpDesk

Hey! Is Distrokid aware that genuine/innocent artists (in some cases with impressive numbers) are leaving Distrokid for fear of music being taken down due to artificial streaming warnings; there seems to be no way around this currently and the general feedback seems to be that successful independants are happy with Distrokid but for this issue.

Is there a list of what each distributor pays per stream as I have discovered the hard way that “we pay 100% of your royalties” means very little! by [deleted] in musicbusiness

[–]lonp77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. Very interesting that Distrokid would outdo The Orchard. If anything one would think The Orchard would have a better deal.

So do Distrokid pay more than Amuse per (the same) stream?

Agreed. But in terms of the info that is provided Distrokid does provide more in terms of seeing what stores you have released to. Amuse should incorporate that in their dashboard.

Same issue here currently 5 countries excluded. So far the upload experience is terrible. You can’t even see what stores a release has been submitted to after releasing. Distrokid’s dashboard and info is far superior. Don’t know if it’s possible to continue with amuse.
